With the Disney Channel just giving us all a major sense of nostalgia to celebrate the release of their 100th original movie, I thought that I would list my top 15 Disney Channel Original Movies. Here is my ranking, even though it is not in any particular order:
1. Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-Off (2003)
Baseball and cooking in one movie? What more could you want?! This was definitely one of the movies that I would have watched every time it was one, and I DVR-ed it so many times.
2. Right On Track (2003)
Brie Larson circa 2003, and pre-Sleepover? Yes please! I remember watching this and really wanting to become a drag racer.
3. Stuck In The Suburbs (2004)
Realistically speaking, this was my first exposure to what a "fan girl" truly is. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and I thought that Tran Killam was one of the funniest people.
4. High School Musical (2006, 2007, 2008)
Even if Zac Efron just destroyed all of our hearts by admitting that he regrets ever taking part in this franchise, it is still one of my favorite movies that has ever existed.
5. Now You See It... (2005)
First off, Aly Michalka and Johnny Pacar? UHM, HELLO?! They were definitely my OTP outside of Keeley and Phil from Phil of the Future.
6. Lemonade Mouth (2011)
I remember reading this book, and I did not really like it, but I think seeing it with Bridgit Mendler (who I knew as Kristin from The Clique movie) really made me like it.
7. Camp Rock (2008, 2010)
Demi Lovato, Alyson Stoner, and the Jonas Brothers all in the same movie? UGH YES. I really loved this movies, even if some of the acting wasn't exactly the best. I pretended that I was at a music camp along with them, and I was disappointed when my own personal Shane Gray didn't show up.
8. The Cheetah Girls (2003, 2006, 2008)
Starting during the pre-HSM days, and the same time as That's So Raven, I loved the girl power vibes that these movies had. I had been a fan of 3LW growing up, so I already knew who Kiely Williams and Adrienne Bailon were.
9. Smart House (1999)
Obviously, anything with Ryan Merriman in it has to be a favorite. And nowadays, as a computer geek, I really enjoy this movie even more.
10. Zenon (1999, 2001, 2004)
I think that we all secretly wanted to be from the future, because Zenon had so many cool gadgets. I mean, we got "zetus lapetus" from this trilogy!
11. Halloweentown (1998, 2001, 2004, 2006)
While I really like all of the movies, I really enjoy the original movies with Kimberely J. Brown in them. I think that my favorite one would have to be Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge. I just remember wanting to watch that one over and over again.
12. Princess Protection Program (2009)
I love Queen Demi, so seeing the friendship between her and Selena Gomez in a movie was just great. I also really liked that they had a song for the movie that was on Demi's first album.
13. Motocrossed (2001)
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES. I loved Riley Smith, and I was totally obsessed with him in this and the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie New York Minute. It was such a good movie, and I liked how uncharacteristic is was for a Disney Channel movie at the time.
14. Twitches (2005, 2007)
Sister, Sister with magic. As a giant Harry Potter nerd, I loved this movie, and I was just really excited to have something that had Tia and Tamara Mowry in it playing on my screen.
15. Brink! (1998)
Who doesn't love grungy kids skating around and trying to win money for their family?! I mean, we get Erik Von Detten pre-Princess Diaries, what more could you ask for?!
Honorable Mentions (it was really hard to leave these out):
Phantom of the Megaplex (2000)
Alley Cats Strike! (2000)
Full-Court Miracle (2003)
Double Teamed (2002)
The Thirteenth Year (1999)
The Luck of the Irish (2001)
Jump In! (2007)
Cadet Kelly (2002)
The Color of Friendship (2000)
Tru Confessions (2002)
Hope that you enjoyed the Disney Channel marathon as much as I did!
