For as long as I can remember, Disney has been a huge part of my life. I grew up watching The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio, along with so many other classics. My childhood wouldn't have been the same without these movies. The life lessons hidden inside them helped shape me into the person I am today. And, let's face it, they're just fun.
They take us into a world where anything is possible. We can hang out with princesses, run around with forest animals, fight pirates, and even go to Neverland and never grow up. All of these places are magical. We used to dream about them when we were younger, knowing without a doubt they were real (I still have hope that Neverland is real, especially when adulthood is stressful.) We knew that one day we might actually make it to those places in real life. And then we went to Disney World.
Disney World is exactly how it is described: the happiest place on earth. Literally. I've never been happier than when I've been in Disney World. When you walk into the park, it's like the rest of the world ceases to exist, and you're in this little bubble of fantasy. There's something for everyone in Disney World, even if they're not obsessive about Disney, like some people (aka me.)
Seeing Cinderella's castle is such a cool experience, and if you're lucky, you might even get to go inside the castle, which is even cooler. It's so surreal. I mean, you see so many postcards and pictures of this place, but when it's actually right in front of you, it's unbelievable.
But you don't have to be in Disney World to experience the awesomeness that is Disney. Disney is literally everywhere, and thanks to modern technology, it can be enjoyed anytime. I'm pretty sure I watch a Disney movie everyday. I swear, I'm an adult. But sometimes, we just need to pretend to be kids again, and that's okay.
I love the classic Disney movies, but modern Disney is pretty unbelievable too. Whether you want to admit it or not, we all loved Frozen and still sing Let It Go all the time. That song is too good to not belt out every chance you get. And let's take a minute to talk about Pixar. It. Is. Awesome. I feel like a baby every time I watch Inside Out or Toy Story 3 because I can't help but bawl my eyes out. I think these movies were secretly made for adults more than children.
So embrace your inner princess, inner pirate, and inner fairy. Disney created these characters for us, and I don't know about you, but I will never stop loving them. Even though some of us are "adults," Disney will always be a part of us, and Mickey Mouse will always be our best friend.
