I believe the biggest question that people often wonder about or ask themselves at some point in their life is, "what is my purpose"?
While this may seem like a cliché topic to ponder about, it is an essential question that every single person on this earth should be asking themselves. What is my "why"?
Once your able to answer this question and find a reason for your existence, you are able to find a reason to start improving your life and working towards that purpose that you've assigned yourself.
There's a quote I stumbled upon by Friedrich Nietzsche that says "he who has a why can endure any how". This is powerful. Knowing your why is essential to figuring out your how. How are you going to achieve your goals? How are you going to create a life you are proud of, one that makes you happy?
This isn't always the easiest task to do. Although we know ourselves better than anyone else, its often hard to dig deep and find that thing that truly drives us, motivates us, and makes us want to get out of bed in the morning. We most likely have a list in our heads of a few things we think might fit the criteria, but to pin point just ONE thing...that's hard to do.
In order to find our reason for living, our purpose for being on this earth, its important to ask ourselves a few questions, they are as follows; Why are you different from everyone else who is trying to do the same thing you're doing? What drives you? What are your values? What are your passions? What brings out that light in your eyes when you talk about? Think forward 10 or 20 years from now, and who is it that you want to be?
Your purpose is something that lights a fire within you. Finding that clear sense of purpose enables you to focus your efforts on what matters most to you, compelling you to take risks and push forward regardless of the odds or obstacles.
Once you find your purpose you can begin to align your life with it, ignoring distractions in your life that are unnecessary and bring you further away from the life you want to live.
Here's a poem I wrote titled "Finding Your Why"
Have you ever thought to yourself "what is my purpose on this blue and green earth"?
Can you comprehend the miracle of each and every day and how much its truly worth?
Because each day you spend not knowing your "why", being unaware of your "reason"
Is simply the act of betraying someone or something, also commonly known as treason
Because in life we may get lost, wondering "how did I end up here, where now do i go?"
More often than not we tend to go down the road that's familiar, the only one we know
But in being repetitive with our choices and never discovering what lights up our soul
Will ultimately leave us feeling purposeless and quite frankly the opposite of whole
For its only when we discover our "why" will we start putting a meaning towards living
it wont take you long to find that each and every day becomes more and more fulfilling
Promise me one thing, take time to find what makes you happy, what makes you content
And I assure you that, after finding it, it'll be the best form of time you've ever spent
