So it’s common knowledge that people dream, or at least most people do, but how often does one remember their dreams. Like, really remember ones dreams. Well, under normal circumstances, I personally do not ever really remember what I dream about, and I chalk that up to the fact that when I sleep I completely pass out due to my insomnia. However, recently I have begun remembering more and more of my dreams and due to the fact that I have a terrible memory, I have taken to writing my dreams down.
There have been some interesting topics as well, such as getting lost in a toxic swamp, fighting a dragon with my closest friends (which seems to vary based on who I’ve talked to that) and even swimming in the Olympics (although I’m still a long way off from that goal). Now, I know that all of these seem rather strange (or normal dreams from whichever perspective you look at it) they are all rather interesting. I decided to take it upon myself look up meanings behind certain thing came out quite fascinated. Dream interpretation is something has been around for ages, but not something that I’ve personally been interested in.
Now dream interpretation is something that is described as is the process of assigning meaning to dreams. In many ancient societies, such as those of Egypt and Greece, dreaming was considered a supernatural communication or a means of divine intervention, whose message could be unraveled by people with certain powers (Wikipedia). So the fact that it had origins in ancient Greece and Egypt was something that made me delve deeper into the world of my subconscious mind. This entire process has led to meditation, which in turn has led to both physical and mental relaxation as well as a decrease in stress levels which have allowed me to think more clearly about everything in life as well as be more productive.
The website I’ve been using to interpret my dreams is http://www.dream-analysis.com/dictionary/. So, my challenge to anyone who reads this is the following; try writing down your dreams for a few days and then interpret them. Try to see what you can discover about your mind and eventually maybe even yourself. Take time out to really try to rediscover things about yourself you could have forgotten (or in some cases about things about friends they wouldn’t want you to remember). You’d be surprised about all the things you will learn.
