The past few weeks have been a whirlwind. Between trying to gear up for finals, wrapping the academic year up, and everything else going on, I haven't had time to even sneeze. The thing that has been absolutely taking up the majority of my time, however, is internship applications.

You love 'em and you loathe 'em. Internships are scary - they're the first steps towards real-world jobs. Internships are no longer just a "good thing" to have on your resume, they're practically necessary. In the past few weeks, I've applied to more internships than I can count, and have been to multiple interviews for the ones that have called me back. Although the process is exhausting and I have had to do countless runs to Target for new business-professional attire, and the reward has been slow and steady, the most important part is the experience.

On one job interview it actually felt like I was Anne Hathaway in "The Devil Wears Prada." I don't even mean Anne Hathaway at the end of the movie where she's got it all together. I mean more like Anne Hathaway at the beginning of the movie where you think she's gonna trip over her high heels or get hit by a car running across the busy Fashion District streets. So in honor of this, I've compiled a list of things that you will undoubtedly experience when going through this application process.

1. When you've sent in a million applications and are waiting for literally ANY responses back.

2. When you get an interview and they tell you the date and time without asking if you can actually make it.

3. When you're going over interview questions trying to think of ANY reason this amazing company should hire you.

4. When you're looking for something standout to wear for your interview but everything you have feels tacky and bad.

5. When you get to your interview but the people at the front desk are not in the mood for you today.

5. When you walk into the interview room but they didn't even look at your resume ahead of time.

6. When you can't think of a good answer to the question they just asked you so you end up babbling.

7. When you realize you're not going to get a better internship so you decide to make the best of this one.

8. When you want to know your hours, what the pay is, where you sit, but you should just KNOW it already.

9. When you realize all your qualifications are being put towards memorizing your superior's Starbucks order.

10. When it is DOWNPOURING but your boss still expects you to go about running her errands as usual.

11. When the other interns get too proud of the work they've done in the two days they've worked here.

12. When work starts at 9 but your boss expects you to be done with all your morning tasks at 8:45.

13. When you've gone above and BEYOND your tasks for the day and want a little recognition but all you can get from the boss is...

It's a tough world out there, but if you can make it with Miranda, you can make it anywhere.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
