So many thoughts constantly race through my head on a daily basis. A good friend of mine, who shall remain nameless, has been with me through a particular situation for the past month and a half. I am a man of few words sometimes, but whenever I speak my mind, people tend to either shy away or get taken back because of how vocal I can truly be. I think one of the biggest problems in society, today, is the lack of communication and miscommunication. Many things have been misconstrued over time to the point that no one trusts anything anyone has to say. People are so afraid to say and talk about how they are actually feeling, so they put on a mask constantly to avoid being hurt by others. This is understandable because we, as humans, all do this. We have feelings and emotions; therefore, we want to feel safe and secure. We don't want people to "walk all over us" or take advantage of what we have to offer. Speaking as someone who genuinely loves to help others and make other people feel appreciated, people tend to take that kindness for granted. A common misconception is people take kindness for weakness. Kindness is nowhere near the realm of weakness; in fact, showing kindness and compassion to others is a serious strength that most people try to suppress with rudeness and apathy. If most individuals took a different approach to how they treat others, we could be a more formidable and united people.
