As a kid, life was a breeze. The mind was filled with full-grown fantasies of what one dreams about becoming. At first, it was princesses or King's, maybe even an animal or something abstract. These were dreams and ideas that were unrealistic, yet parents and teachers told us "We could do anything."

As one gets older, dreams of becoming a princess or firetruck are unrealistic, still, some turn to other aspirations like movie stars, artists, and basketball players. Progressive and positive words may continue from adults, especially parents, until teenage years.

There seems to not only be a firm separation from younger generations and older generations, but with the arts and sciences. Recent commercials have shown kids that pursuing certain topics like science and math is "what the world needs". Commercial mediums do this by showing statistics on how many individuals actually make it in the arts or sports industry - which is very low.

Yes, the chances are slim, but it is also not healthy to show curious and fresh minds (as a kid, the brain is molded to learn almost anything) that one simply "can not do it." This is a downfall of American society, as dreams should not be diminished, rather pushed for each generation.

Recently, it seems as if older writers, analysts, politicians, or any older adult, want to pity the youth and the upcoming generations, saying that we are “lacking dignity, sense of self or persuasion”; for we are distracted by far too many things or don't know what we want, but I have to disagree.

Despite certain downfalls (as not thinking independently or financially), the current generation has a power like no other. Thanks to mass social expansion, people around the world now have a voice to fight for equality. In the last 10 years, many beneficial changes have been made in regards to acceptance of the LGBT community or individuals who may be confused on who they are. This is due to the current generation creating countless of supportive groups via the internet.

Of course, the American society still struggles with it's own and many set of problems, but I believe as time progresses, the individuals who are young within this world have a magnificent power see the world in the freshest perspective. Unless of course, the parents and environments they are in, rule their sense of thinking.

Still, when one is born, they have the power to do anything with themselves and think in brand new ways. Why ever, as an older individual, diminish those new ideas? One may be wise, but it has also been proven that as adults get old, so does their want and need for change.

Maybe that is why, the world stays fixed in many social conditions as many older adults, simply do not want to listen to the countless of younger adults ideas, which in reality, could prosper the world for the better.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
