6 Things I'm Thankful For

Dear Gym Buddy,

You’ve seen me at my worst and you've pushed me to be my best. Here are a few things I’d like to thank you for.

Thank you for not letting me quit.

I know it can’t be easy listening to me complain. You probably hear the phrases “I can’t breathe,” and “I’m dying,” as frequently as you hear my weights slam. Sorry about that. I probably don’t say it enough, but thank you for not letting me give up. Thank you for pushing me to do better and be my best self.

1. Thank you for holding me accountable.

Thank you for holding me accountable for working out every day, eating well, and getting the most out of every workout. I probably wouldn’t be nearly as consistent in my efforts if you weren’t so persistent in your role as my gym buddy. My gym abilities have grown so much during out time together. Thank you for that.

2. Thank you for complimenting me.

Thank you for praising my accomplishments. It makes gym time so much more pleasant when I have someone encouraging me telling me I’m doing something good. I know that my gym efforts likely haven't produced any visible physical changes, but you tell me they have anyways, and I appreciate you for that.

3. Thank you for your lack of judgment.

You’ve definitely seen me at my worst. When we hit the gym, I’m stinky, sweaty and tired, which can’t be a pleasant combination. Thank you for pushing me without shaming me. You always know when I can do better and when I need to step back a bit or take a break. Thank you for not judging me in those times.

4. Thank you for being a great role model.

Your dedication is amazing and the amount you can lift always shocks me. You may not be a gym pro, but in my eyes, you’re pretty close. I want to be just like you.

5. Thank you for just being a friend.

I hate working out alone and you know that. Thank you for keeping me company and talking with me about anything and everything to help pass the time. Thank you for always being there to help me blow off steam in the gym after a long day. Thank you for listening to my problems and giving me advice, even when you’re so out of breath that it’s hard to talk. Your fun personality makes the time pass so much quicker. I never knew working out could be fun, but I do now.

6. Thank you for helping me be better.

I’m living a healthier lifestyle. I’m relieving stress. I’m getting faster and stronger. I’m getting closer and closer to my goals. I know I can accomplish anything, and you’re a big part of that.

Thank you for everything. You're the best.

Sincerely,

Me

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
