Dear Daddy,
The famous Tim McGraw song goes, "Go on, take on this whole world / But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl." I know that's one of your favorites, and it's mine too.
I agree with those lyrics-- I will always be your little girl. I know there are days when it might not seem that way because I'm too far from reach or I'm too busy living my own life, but I will still be here. It might not seem like it when you see me drive down the driveway to go back to school, and it might not seem like it when you think about giving me away to the man of my dreams one day, but believe me, I will never stop being your little girl.
As I have grown older, the hugs have turned to phone calls and holding your hand as we jump over the crashing waves has turned to just sitting on the beach together, but despite the passing time, one thing has always remained-- I am your little girl. You loved me the day I came into this world and I know you haven't stopped since. From rocking me to sleep, to being my number one catcher during my athletic career, you have always been a good father. You have molded me and taught me right from wrong, but even more than that, you have loved me no matter what. For that, I could never thank you enough.
You have loved me with Christ's love, and you have always loved Mom liked Christ loves the church. You have shown me that first and foremost, I am made beautiful in God and in God alone, and as my earthly father, you have always guided me in the right ways. Though I may not tell you enough, thank you for loving me like that. Thank you for teaching me how to love myself first, and for showing me that I should be loved just as you have always loved Mom. You are amazing, Daddy, and I know I don't tell you or Mom enough, but thank you. I would never be who I am today if it were not for you.
From being my number one fan to my worst critic, I am me because of how you have raised me. You and Mom have taught me that I can be anything I want to be in this world, but you reminded me to stay grounded in faith and in those that love me. I will always do just that, Daddy, and I will always strive to make you proud. You have instilled in me the ability to love others before loving myself, and to work hard to accomplish all of my goals in life, just as you have always done. I am so grateful for that, Daddy, and for the many other things you have taught me.
I could never write enough words to tell you how much you mean to me, but I do want you to know one thing: I will always be your little girl. As you watch me grow and you wonder how the time passes so quickly, just know that I'm still here. I will still be here even when I completely move out and am living in a house of my own. I will still be here even when you have to walk me, your last little girl, down the aisle. I will still be here, even until your very last day on this earth. I know some days it is hard to let me go, but always remember, you have taught me so well and I love you so much.
Love always,
Your Little Girl.
