Dear Brooke Davis,
Speaking for many adolescent girls, growing up is a challenging time. Every girl has hardships including the inevitable dramatic turn of friendships, heartbreak from boys, and physical insecurities. Brooke Davis, you taught me many things. You taught me that social standards for boys and girls are different. You said, "If you are fat, sexual, dumb, and a guy; you're okay. If you're a girl; not so much". It made me realize that double standards won't change, though I wish they would. However, my confidence was what mattered. Because of you, I learned not to cry over the boy who hurt me; I just haven't met my Julian yet. Brooke, you taught me that my friendships should be my focus, my friends can get me through anything. If I find my Peyton, I'll keep her close. Also, if I find a color that looks good on me, I shouldn't be afraid to wear it! You taught me to never assume what's happening with people, maybe they're doing alright but you never know. With that, you taught me that people can change, everything can change.
Brooke, because of you I don't label myself or focus on the guy. I try to keep the right people in my life and be more comfortable in my own skin. I demand respect when I know I deserve it and am proud of who I am. I accept people without judgement and I don't settle for less than I deserve. And sometimes, I dance when nobody is watching. Thank you Brooke, for making me a more confident person.
