Dear best friend,
Eight years seems like a pretty long time when you think about things, but that’s how long ago it was when you walked into my life. That’s how long it’s been me and you against the world. Partners in crime. We’ve learned so much in these 8 years and I’m so glad that you’re by my side.
First of all, can I just say that I’m so happy we’ve remained friends after all these years. It’s definitely been one heck of a ride, but I can say that it’s been worth it. It’s great to have a friend who you don’t have to talk to every day, but you remain so close with. I know that if I ever needed you, you’d be there for me in a heartbeat. I know that there’s nothing that can stand in the way of this friendship, because we’ve already encountered so much together.
I can honestly say that when it comes to best friends, you take the prize for the best in the world. So thank-you for being my person. Thank-you for telling me how it is no matter how mad I might get. Thanks for always coming back to me after our fights.

From those late nights in your basement to the late nights in the bar, there’s no one I’d rather be by my side than a friend like you. Thanks for always being my drinking buddy and never turning down a chance to take shots with me. Thanks for holding my hair when I needed or whatever else might be needed on our wild nights together. It’s been a wild run these eight years, and I can’t say that I remember them all.
I don’t tell you enough that I love you and appreciate you as a friend. That I’m honored to have you in my life. I don’t tell you that I’m proud of you for being so young so young and independent. For going back to school to finish out your dreams or for always fighting for what you believe in.
I didn’t know your dad, but I can guarantee you he’s proud of the woman you are becoming. He’s proud of his daughter more each day. You carry yourself with such dignity and know what you want to do in life. I know that he’s watching over you, guiding you each day, with a smile across his face because his little girl is rocking it on this journey called life. I know all this without having ever met him.
You’re more than my best friend, you’re my sister. You’ve believed in me when I didn’t. I’ve been there for you. I’ll always be your shoulder to cry on. I’ll be there to beat up anyone who hurts you and I’ll always be your sassiest friend. I’ll spoil your kids one day. I’ll always be by your side, no matter what.
