* In the fight against teen pregnancy, abortion becomes a critical part once the act has already been done, but should these women be blamed due to a two person mistake? Not even taking into account all the hate they receive from the outside world, here's a poetic insight on the woman's mind when they have to go through such intolerable tasks.
Dear baby,
You're almost mother was not stupid she was just in love. She took advantage of the idea that seeing him would give her butterflies in her stomach, but when they disappeared they would leave nothing behind. She didn't realize that young bliss and soft hands were the only things needed to bring you down into her tummy.
Dear a maybe baby boy,
It's not that she didn't want to see your identical eyes, but she knew that your cry would never stop ringing in hers ears as you were stripped away from her lifeless hands and into another, foreign to you both. Adoption wasn't an option because she could never watch your life without her, so instead she's letting her selfishness consume her as she repeats, "this is the only way."
Dear maybe baby girl,
She wants you to wear those pink dresses, but how can she afford such luxuries when she is still a child herself. She was part of the generation who grew up too fast.
Still getting rid of the baby fat in her cheeks, while working two shifts at the diner until her knuckles crinkle and her bones go numb.
Dear baby who could’ve been,
She apologizes for being this reckless, but at age 13 her mind was tainted with unwanted thoughts that boys’ hands had the right to lay upon her skin. She couldn’t configure that his lust and her love were not two sides of the same card let alone in the same deck. She thought she was the king and she mistook this joker for a king, and when he left faster than he came, she realized he was an ace at breaking hearts. And, she’s only sorry you got played too.
Dear almost child,
Don’t feel sorrow when you fly up to where you came, just remember little boy blue who flew up to the man on the moon and even if you don't make it that far, you'll still land among the stars. And don't worry, she won't make you wait that long. She is more than eager to see you, as there will never be enough dopamine running through her veins from the words whispered from the people who console her that leaving you behind was right. The anxiety has increased in her brain and I'm sure that's made you insane. Because you didn't want to see the woman whom you could've called mom break herself into tiny enough pieces to replicate the size of fetus she's let go.
Dear baby that never was,
The worst thing you could feel is unloved. Because no matter what, she does.
