Stress has sadly and inevitably become a art of every student's school life. If we could sue someone over the toll this stress takes on our sanity, we would. But, although we always hear people say, "Don't stress," it's not like that stress will go away. Because, obviously, your two measly words have just made all my work, deadlines, and problems disappear. You deserve a slow clap for you incredible miracle work.
All sarcasm aside, take stress into your own hands. Only you can really take care of that inner demon called 'stress'. With that being said, all you need to do is find something to occupy yourself with that brings you to that little 'happy place' of yours. Find something that, for a little while, lets you forget about your worries and problems. The biggest mistake you could do is brush it off with, "But I'm too busy to do something to rid my stress!" Excuses, excuses. With that attitude you will most definitely live your life unhappy and your mental health will suffer. Trust me, I've been there since starting college last fall.
Taking the time to get rid of stress and unwind doesn't have to literally be a vacation. We all know we're on a time crunch because most of the time it's literally the main reason for all the stress we undergo. Find an easy way to relax for a bit that works for you. I've found some simple ways to do this as well:
Listen to music.
Listen to some music, preferably while not doing work, and just close your eyes to really take in the music. What I found works best for me is listening to some soothing piano or pulling up some chill jams to immerse myself into with my earphones. Just pull over your headphones and let the rest of the world fade into the music for a bit. You'll thank yourself later.
Take a nap.
Possibly the most risky-sounding one of any stress-relieving tips. But honestly, if you have the chance, even if it's for just 30 minutes or an hour, take a little cat nap. It's good to just shut down for a bit and clear your mind with a little rest. Honestly, naps will become your best friend of you learn to incorporate them into your schedule, just remember to set an alarm so your don't accidentally hibernate for 12 hours from all your stress-built exhaustion.
Doodle for a bit.
And don't start with the whole, "But I'm not an artist!" and "I'm not talented!" whining. Doodles are just to unwind and let your mind roam. Get some paper and a pen. Draw flowers. Doodle the president eating cereal in space. I don't care what it is, but just do it. Once you start, you'll find you made something cool or at least got your mind off stressing for a bit. I doodle all the time when I'm stressed which leads to little drawings being found anywhere and everywhere, even my arms.
Eat or snack.
I'm not saying to stuff your face but your brain needs food and munching on food is better than munching on your nails. Literally, 'treat yo self'. Eat some chips, have some celery sticks, something. It's not only to get rid of stress but also becasue I'm pretty sure the stress has made your forget how to prperly eat and take care of yourself.
