With the extra hour daylight savings brings us, there are several ways to spend the extra time wisely (or not-so-wisely). Before you spend your extra hour only thinking of what to do with your extra hour, here’s some ideas of how to fill the time Daylight Savings has given us.
Watch Two Episodes of "The Office": This idea basically works for any 30-minute show on Netflix. Just pop down, snuggle in and enjoy your extra hour of commercial-free TV bliss.
Go For An Autumnal Run: For those #sporty daylight savers, a brisk run can lighten up your life and put you in a great mood, especially with all that beautiful fall foliage to gaze at.
Have a Swaggy Hour-Longer Slumber: Naps are tight and with this extra hour, you don’t even have to feel bad about putting off other work to catch some extra Zzzz’s.
Have an Hour Study Break: Take a break from midterm *month* and be reassured because you “wouldn’t have had this time anyways”.
Study Power Hour: Contrary to the above suggestion, if you are feeling productive, this extra hour gives you even more time to crank out flash cards for those midterms that never seem to go away.
Happy Hour: For those over 21, happy hour is a fun and flirty way to put a break in your day without breaking your budget.
Stay Up/Out: You know how you never want the weekends to end? Now you have an excuse to stay out an hour later, and as One Direction would say “Go crazy, crazy, crazy til you see the sun.”
Bake: Whether is a scrumptious apple pie or just dinner for the roomies, baking is something us college students undervalue. Step up to the plate and become MVR (Most Valuable Roomie) all while eating something delicious.
At-Home Yoga Session: Unwind with some at-home yoga so you don’t embarrass yourself by going to a studio where everyone is as bendy as a pretzel. If you need to take breaks, no one will judge you! Win-win!
Prep for Game Days: With the amount of game days dwindling, the preparation and planning of when to wear Gopheralls, which venues to hit up, and where the best Instagram background will be can start days in advance.
Craft: Is the only décor in your apartment empty bottles? Make some crafts like those turkey hand things from elementary school, so your mom isn’t embarrassed by your “interior design aesthetic” next time she visits.
Online Shop: Get a jumpstart on finding that perfect gift and start shopping for Christmas presents, all while in the comfort of your own home. By doing this early, you would have to deal with all the psychos during Black Friday shopping. You’re welcome.
Prep for Thanksgiving: A "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" is only 30 short minutes, but your packing of summer clothes to take home over break may take longer. Get a jumpstart on it so you can get to that turkey and stuffing faster come November 26th.
Go Out To Eat: Is your stomach curling at the thought of apartment, dorm, or just campus food in general? Make a field trip and #treatyourself to a meal with actual good, wholesome food (and don’t forget your veggies!).
And last, but certainly not least, listen to Adele’s new song "Hello" 12 times in a row. What a beautiful way to spend an hour.
