Why You Shouldn't Pull A 'Rachel' When Your Partner Says They Want A Break

It's not giving up, it's trying to move forward in the relationship.

For whatever reason, you and your significant other has decided that you should “take a break” from your relationship.

Millions of questions start coming to mind when they say this.

How long will you take the break for?

Are you telling people you are broken up?

Are they going to be seeing other people?

What did I do wrong?

These questions usually scare people away from the idea of even taking a break in a relationship, even though it might be the right move for you and your boo thing. Taking a break can do wonders for a relationship! We just get too scared of the idea to get the benefits of it.

Taking a break gives you time to practice self-love and insure that you are your own person outside of your relationship.

You need to know that you are happy with yourself and don’t need the constant approval of someone else. If you can’t, maybe you need to take a longer break than you thought and build a relationship with yourself first. If you can, YYG (or boy)!

Some people need time apart to realize their strengths and weaknesses. Spending time apart and individually bettering yourselves, realizing what your values are, and becoming more confident will make your relationship stronger when you decide to come back from the break.

Two wrongs don't make a right: staying together while you are both trying to fix personal issues can lead to an unhealthy relationship.

We all want to help the people we love, but sometimes they need space to step back and evaluate everything before letting others into their life. It's not giving up and it's not selfish to want the very best from a person you love from a far.

Distance might even show you that your S.O. is toxic for you.

If you take a break from someone and realize you like who you are more without them, you need to do whats best for yourself and remove yourself from the relationship.

On the positive side, you might realize how special your S.O. really is to you.

Sometimes we take people for granted when we get super comfortable and accustom to having them around. A break might show you just how much you've been neglecting your relationship or being neglected in it.

All in all, a break in a relationship can only lead to 2 great relationships: either a better, self-appreciative relationship with yourself or a new beginning and reassurance in a relationship that just needed to be looked at with a fresh perspective.

Taking a break in your relationship helps you see what you really need from each other.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
