Dating Tips For An Old Soul

In a society of hook-up culture and defining the relationship, someone with an old heart and an old way of looking at things can get lost in the shuffle. An old soul, according to Urban Dictionary is a spiritual person whom is wise beyond their years; people of strong emotional stability. Basically, someone whom has more understanding of the world around them. So what is an old soul to do in a 21st century dating world? There are 10 things.

1. Find someone open to talking like you are.

We like to talk about how we feel. If your significant other can do the same thing then you found someone that compliments you.

2. Find someone who knows you like to be alone.

It has nothing to do with the person we are with. We just need to be alone sometimes. We might not answer our phone for days on end. We might not text 24/7 and that's okay. It doesn't mean we don't love the person we are with. It is better for the both of us if we just have time that is just to ourselves.

3. On the other hand, find someone who wants to be with you.

When our "me time" is over, we want to be with the person we are with. Like, we want to be with them all the time. It might seem like we are giving mixed signals, but if we make time to be with a person, then we want to be with them. Simple as that.

4. Find someone with passion.

Old souls can be passionate beings. We have things that we cannot give up and will not give up. We have things that consume our every waking thought. If the person we are with doesn't have one, we find them bland and boring. We need someone who gets excited and passionate.

5. Find a romantic.

Old souls have a different view of romance than the normal 21st century person. They can sometimes live in an old black and white movie. Find a person who gives you those moments. Someone who's idea of a date is more than hooking up in their car. You deserve it.

6. Find someone cultured.

We love culture. 19th century literature, opera, plays — anything and everything. We like sports too, but our heart is in the arts. Find someone who doesn't mind spending a Saturday at the theater or a cold night curled up with a good book.

7. Find someone fun.

One thing is for sure: old souls are anything but boring. We like to have fun and party too! Just because old is next to soul doesn't mean we want an old fart.

8. Find someone mature.

Old souls are wise beyond their years which means they are also mature beyond their years. We need someone who is mature, articulate, and polite. No fuckboys here please.

9. Find someone compassionate.

Compassion is a big part of an old soul. We feel everything, even what other people feel. We don't like seeing people upset because it upsets us. We need someone who understands us.

10. Find someone who likes to stay in.

Like I said, old souls are party people, but staying in and cuddling up is also our idea of a good time. We don't need to be entertained 24/7. We are major homebodies and if we want to stay in with a person, that usually means we like them a lot. We need someone who understands this and doesn't get mad when we just want to chill at home.

11. Finally, don't settle.

There are people out there who will understand and love you. Be true to who you are, old soul and love will find its way in.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
