You hear the doorbell ring and you immediately begin to sweat. You open the door to see his sweet face smiling in front of you. You notice he is holding a bouquet of flowers. You think to yourself, "How did I get so lucky?" Well, take it all in now, because dating is practically gone. Back in the day, courting was the official way to declare your love for one another with the actual intent of getting married. This quickly evolved into the dating scene, where people's intent was not so much to marry, but get to know the other person. If dating is so great, then why has our generation migrated away from it? Our generation is so terrified of catching "feels" that they would rather not have them at all.
The answer is simple, when we catch feels, we get our heart broken. While I do wish there was a shoulder to cry on, the struggle of having a boyfriend is more strenuous than not having one. The act of "hooking up" has made way into the twenty first century. The idea is simple, share a fun filled night together and split in the morning. This is what everyone is doing these days because there is just simply not enough time to juggle a relationship and school at the same time. To the people that can, you're the minority. it is rare to hear of people actually dating in college from what I've experienced.
I do think that dating is still around, but it has taken a lull while we are in college. It's simple, priorities. school comes before the opposite sex. I completely believe in getting your own shit together before taking on the shit of another person. Ya know, you need to be comfortable with yourself and know where you stand in your life before you throw another person into the mix. It can be tricky, but i say that we should not completely give up on the dating scene. There is still hope out there that when we leave college or maybe even at the tail end, decided to start dating again. Until then, we just need to grin and take some time to improve on ourselves. When you finally master you, then you're ready. keep hope, dating isn't completely dead, when you get there, you get there. there is no rush.
