5 Reasons You Want to Date a Mechanic's Daughter
Gordon Blackler

Although there are many kinds of girls out there to meet your required tastes, there's nothing quite like dating a mechanic's daughter. She's a little edgy, preppy, and she wants to do things that you want to do! If that's not the biggest win, win then I'm not quite sure what is. If you haven't had the chance to date a mechanic's daughter yet, do yourself a favor because you could get a best friend out of the deal as well as someone who can actually speak cars with you. Or, if you don't know much about cars, you could wind up with your own personal mechanic! Of all the girls to choose, here are a few reasons why you want a mechanic's daughter.

1. She wants to do everything on her own

Her dad taught her everything she knows, which may be about as much as you know. If her car is breaking down, let her figure it out. She's driven cars until they fell off their axles and she's mastered the art of identifying the problem based on the noise her car makes. If she can't figure it out she will call her dad, so she's taking the heat off your back! What's even better is that this doesn't only apply to cars. She is the definition of an independent woman who don't need no man, unless he's her dad obviously.

2. Breaking down is an adventure to her

Once upon a time in a land far away, a beautiful princess' carriage broke down on the side of the interstate. The king of the land was too far away to rescue his daughter so he had to talk her through the process by carrier pigeon. Princess Fixer-Upper was too distraught to follow the steps properly, so the king told her to jimmy it up with some band-aids and zip ties so that she could quickly return before her prince made his appearance. After weeks of waiting for her prince to arrive, she went for a walk in the woods to lighten her spirits and found him stuck in a busted carriage. Together they figured out why his carriage turned into a pumpkin and rode off into the night!

3. Her desire to help may irritate you

Keep in mind that her dad practiced patience his entire life. When he walked out to the garage, she was right on his toes just like she is always on yours. He taught her what a wrench was, the difference between the Phillips head and the Flat head screwdriver, and she owns the title of personal flashlight holder. Don't worry about too many questions, she spent years asking dad everything so he's handled that department for you. It was the highlight of her day to have dad ask her to do something. Let her help you because it reminds her of a happy time in her life. Keep in mind she's only trying to help and she's kind of cute when she pretends to know more than you... kind of.

4. She's okay with being dirty

Here you have the best of both worlds: she can get all dolled up for a night out on the town, but she's also A-okay with greasy hands. Even better, she won't freak out if you're dirty and she's not! She's not going to say "Ew, wash your hands first," and you'll never hear her whine about you going to the store in your grungy clothes. Chances are she's a hot mess too. Dressing up is a big deal to her, she doesn't go out of her way to impress anyone but you. Besides, she actually thinks you're hotter when you're filthy.

5. She curses like a sailor from time to time

This may be the deal breaker for you. When I was growing up, I was taught that ladies don't curse or spit because it's... well, it's gross. That's a dude thing to do, even my dad taught me not to do it as he spit a big ole loogie into the gravel when he would tell me to stop spitting in the grass. Cursing was a different story. Cursing was bad for everyone, but it was definitely appropriate in the garage when you dropped a damn hammer on your toe or when the alternator was in a tight spot and you couldn't get it out. If it bothers you to hear her drop f-bombs left and right, get out while you can because that's practically ingrained into her DNA. Hopefully she doesn't hock loogies everywhere though...

Overall, just enjoy your time with her because she's a riot to be around! Half the time you can take her out with you to hang with the guys because she's practically one of them, but she's also your girl. Everyone's happy!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
