Darling You Are Special

Call this an opportunity to learn to appreciate yourself.

Darling You Are Special

Call what this is an opportunity.

It's a lot like driving down that familiar country road, but at night when the road morphs into something unfamiliar because you can't see where you're going anymore. You know it's going somewhere and you have to follow it along until at some point it'll get light again and you can see.

Or maybe that drive is the best thing that's ever happened to you.

Don't let someone invalidate your struggles. Yes, despite the difficulty and the pain and anguish, that feeling of being lost is a blessing in disguise. Darling you are going to grow so much from what you're facing in this moment. When it feels like it's dark it's most important to notice the stars. Get lost on purpose and pull off to the side of a country road at night and listen to a song, that one song really, that really makes you feel something.

This uncertainty is an opportunity to make a wicked playlist and drive through the darkness with anticipation of the greatest adventure ahead.

You will feel scared and that is okay. You will feel lonely and that is okay too, but know that you aren't ever alone. You are loved. This life is unpredictable and there will be times you don't care to know what's left down that road, but you are strong and that drive is worth the while. There's sunsets and sunrises and gentle rains and storms ahead. All part of the plan.

If someone does not absolutely cherish you, and they do not make time for you or show you how much they care, then they are simply not worth your time. It is so important to recognize how short life is and how valuable your time is. Pour your resources and all of that love you're longing to share into people who are there for you instead of emptying it into those who merely take advantage of it.

That is to drain yourself, and you are worth more than allowing your heart to spill out for those who won't mop it up for you, or better yet give you part of their heart to keep you going.

Do not take yourself for granted. Do not forget to pour that amount of love into yourself because you must take care of yourself first and foremost. Put good in, you will get good out.

Sometimes people change, not always for the better. Sometimes we love so greatly and so deeply we become blind to what is not good for us any longer, or perhaps it never was good for us. But because you care as much as you do about those who may or may not return the favor, you're willing to let yourself lay at risk of collateral damage.

People might hurt you without even realizing it, like comets hurtling through time on their way to their final destination. They're focused and driven, but with your arms wide open and your endlessly caring heart you let that fire burn you a little bit along the way, simply because you want to be a part of that person's journey. They're a star to you and for that you are incredible.

Part of the disaster of loving so much is knowing that there's a chance those you love will leave. Not because of you, but because their roads are a little different.

They might have to leave to go on a new adventure or maybe they're a little lost and have to go in a different direction. But don't worry, because if they're meant to be in your life they will. To one degree or another, they will find their way back.

Some people we meet are permanent. They are our anchors in life that provide consistency, while others are like life preservers that are thrown at you when you need them. Some people are like buoys you come across and pass after brief amounts of time.

Some of those people you won't want to let go of, and they won't want to let go of you. Nothing is promised-each human interaction is precious and a little bit of fate at work.

We are so lucky to live in a world that is enveloped in stars and planets as we float in a large void where there's so much unknown. We are so entirely human that in a life where we are born into immense uncertainty on a giant orbiting sphere on the outer rim of a galaxy slowly entering a black hole, we worry about human things. That's why you're special. You love so much, you love despite the damage you know will ensue from having a heart like yours. I know that with a person like you the world is a better place and that your road seems a little dark, but appreciate the stars along the way dearest human, we're all a little lost. That's okay.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
