Dancing With The Devil

So darling, if the devil asks you to dance, you better say never. Because a dance with the devil could last you forever.

Dancing With The Devil
Cheyenne Colson

You can't dance with the devil and wonder why you're in hell.

He was the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. His words took your heart on a constant rollercoaster ride, and he had you gasping for every breath. He's as clever as the devil and twice as pretty. His eyes lured you in and his voice locked you down in chains. After a while you knew where he had you, but you didn't care. He made you want to sin, and every time he knocked you couldn't help but let him in.

His hands were the match to the fire in your soul, they burned your flesh every time they touched your skin. You don't even dare to ask yourself if it's wrong, because you already know the answer. They warned you about him, but you didn't listen. Now you're stuck and you don't even want to get out. You know he will destroy you in the end, yet you still adore him.

What if the devil doesn't know he's the devil? That's the saddest tragedy known to man. The story of the man who destroyed himself by destroying the girl. He didn't even know what he was doing until she was beyond broken. Now she becomes another version of him. And anyone who touches her lips will fall to the floor just as she did. The cycle continues, now Hell is empty; all the devils are here.

We crave it. It controls every aspect of the world we live in. If it isn't in our grasp, it could kill us. There's so much of it but there's never enough. We run our bones dry every day of our lives trying to earn it, but really it owns us.

Humans were designed for it. We were created with bodies that connect for a reason, like pieces of a puzzle. But there are rules, rules that will haunt you for the rest of your days if you break them. There's only one other created for you. Your dance partner. The tango is only beautiful if the dancers are connected through the soul, if not they trip over their own feet and fall flat on their face. If you injure yourself too badly dancing with the wrong person you wont ever be strong enough for the real dance. Wait your turn.

We were born with clear vision then somehow our eyes are covered by a vale. We see the devil in everything around us, but we never think to look in the mirror. Maybe this world is another planet's hell. Our bones only grow older for them to despise their own existence. We are never truly happy because the world is sad.

We think this all there is, that's what he wants you to think. The actors in his movie force you into the scene where you lose. But he isn't even the director, and he can't make a movie that's already been created. There is already an end scene, and yes you are in it. He already paid the cost for the film, and the credits that roll at the end, never stop rolling. He is very real, and so is hell. This isn't a nursery rhyme, it's a novel. There's two endings available, and one costs a whole lot more than the other.

So darling, if the devil asks you to dance, you better say never. Because a dance with the devil could last you forever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
