If you’re like me, you can’t stand mainstream music and are sick of watered down party tunes that lack meaning, soul, and most of all emotion. Sure, among the cesspool of hip hop songs sung by people who are way more concerned with bragging about how awesome their life is and how much money they have, you’ll find a song about heartbreak every now and then. But where have the love songs gone? The beautiful melodies that made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside seem to be dead. Yet every once in a while, we find a song special enough to share the first dance with our spouse to. Here are those songs:

1.H.O.L.Y by Florida Georgia Line.

Yes country music still seems to be the best source of raw emotion in music, and FGL hits this ballad out of the park. Granted you would probably want a slower, acoustic version on your big day, but how could you not see yourself dancing to lyrics like “You’re an angel, tell me you’re never leaving.” If you really are high on loving your new spouse, this is the tune for you.

2.Mirrors by Justin Timberlake.

Perhaps the biggest star to make an appearance on this list, JT comes in strong with his 2013 single that seamlessly blended a pop beat, with lyrics fit for only the truest of loves. It might have to be slowed down on your wedding day as well, but the lyrics are perhaps the strongest on this list. “Now it’s clear as this promise, that we’re making, two reflections into one.” That would almost fit better as a wedding vow than a wedding song.

3.All Of Me by John Legend.

Let’s be honest, did you really expect anything less from John Legend? Stripped down to only a piano and the voice of an angel, this melody needs no altercation when it’s time to hit the dance floor for the first time as husband and wife. Just make sure as you give your all to your significant other, this song is playing.

4.Die A Happy Man by Thomas Rhett.

Country music makes another appearance, and no defense is necessary here, the lyrics speak for themselves. “You’re a saint you’re a goddess, the cutest the hottest, a masterpiece. It’s too good to be true, nothing better than you in my wildest dreams.” “If all I got, is your hand in my hand, then baby I could die a happy man.” Tell me your heart is not lying in a puddle of tears.

5.Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.

This is what makes a wedding song. Beautiful lyrics, sung with a passion and emotion, Ed Sheeran’s ballad could be well on its way to a wedding near you. And with lyrics like “I’ll be loving you ‘til we’re seventy.” And “Maybe found love right where we are.” It’s the perfect choice for any couple.

Maybe none of these songs are the right pick for your special day, but at least it goes to show that love songs are not dead. And even though we have to sift through a lot, and I mean A LOT, of bad songs on the radio today, we’ll eventually find these hidden gems.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
