Cup Noodles have a special place in almost everyone's heart.
The delicious meal reminds me of high school during the winter. On rainy gloomy days, the only thing that could make me feel better was buying a Cup Noodles during lunch time and drowning it in Tapatio sauce. Although completely unhealthy, it never failed to please my taste buds and warm my insides.
For many, Cup Noodles can also be symbolic of their college life. During times of economic hardship and intense studying, the only simple and cheap meal to fix up ranges from cereal to Cup Noodles.
This life savior is always there in times of emergency to ease the pain of hunger.
Sadly, it has also been evident that the sodium in one of these little cups is astonishingly high.
It is for this very reason that Nissin Foods USA announced that they will be changing the recipe that has won the hearts of many over the decades.
The company informed its loyal customers that the new recipe will include lower sodium, no added MSG and no artificial flavors. Furthermore, instead of including artificial flavors, the company will use cabbage juice to enhance flavoring.
Although this healthy change is sure to bring about less health scares, I am not sure if cabbage juice sounds entirely appealing.
I'm hopeful that Nissin Foods USA will find a way to mimic their old recipe as much as possible in an effort to maintain the same taste.
It has not been reported when this change in recipe will occur, but until then, shoppers can become nostalgic about the happiness that the old Cup Noodles have brought them.
