For some reason the older we get the more people want to bottle up their emotions. I can't tell if it's because we've learned to trust noone, or we see it as a weakness. Either way, your pride is not worth holding back the tears. Admit it, when you finally have that breakdown and cry, you feel a little better after, even if the problem isn't resolved. I am telling you it's okay to cry for so many different reasons but the big one is, you're human.
One of the many problems with today's world is everyone's double standards. They tell you to "suck it up princess" and "just let it go," but if you acted as heartless and emotionless as they want you to, they wouldn't like you. If you cry over almost anything, big or small, you are weak, a sissy, or soft. But if you act like you don't care you're heartless, mean, or a jerk. So moral of this story is, don't listen to the people around you. You know as well as I do, if you feel something, you can't just make it go away. It's not a crumb on your shoulder you can just brush off. It's a real feeling in the pit of your stomach or heart so let it out. You're human, it's okay to cry.
Crying in front of other people and showing emotions actually makes you strong. Strong enough to show friends, even enemies that you're vulnerable? So many people are scared to cry in front of anyone because of the negitive stigma of being weak that goes along with it. So, if you are able to let it all out in front of everyone, you are a very strong human in my book.
Robert Frost once said, “No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.” To go along with showing vulnerability, it helps you connect and hold better relationships with the people around you. When you show people that you have emotions too, they feel like they can open up to you and that you have opened up to them. Crying is a good thing people. STOP PUTTING WALLS UP. We all know that the tears and emotions will build up behind your eyes like water at a dam and eventually come spilling out anyway, so just let the water flow. After all, you are human.
