Hi Everyone!
I’m part of this startup called CrowdFound. Basically, it's a video-based community for the intellectually curious. Over the past year, we’ve had the opportunity to talk to about 12,000 people, from CEO’s of banks, to fashion moguls, to strippers and many more and they’ve all voiced out the same concern: It’s becoming harder and increasingly stigmatized to learn from and share a meaningful conversation with people outside of your network. This is really unfortunate, since we believe that we have so much to learn from each other! At CrowdFound, we just want to make the process of sharing and receiving information easier. Think of it as an interactive TED Talk, where learning not only comes from a single speaker, but is inspired through an enriching, mutual conversation with another.
So, how does it work?
Simple. You create a 30-60 second video saying who you are (what your expertise is), who you’re interested in learning from (e.g. Neurolaw practitioners), and why. Within a few days, you’ll receive an e-mail containing the video and e-mail addresses of individuals who matched your expressed knowledge and interests. It’s now all up to you to reach out to these individuals and schedule a time to meet up and chat.
Currently, we’ve successfully collected 160 videos and have connected them with interesting people outside of their network. However, CrowdFound needs your help to expand its collection of videos and make it the diverse, curious and above all, respectful community that it’s intended to be.
