Kayne West, winner of 21 Grammy Awards, founder of Yeezy, father of two and husband to Kim Kardashian. West is known for his long speeches to the media about world love, the struggle, the hustle, but in the streetwear world, he is known for creating the Yeezy culture.
"Yeezy culture" is a lifestyle to some, to others, it's a fashion statement. I appreciate the style West brings to the fashion industry. West isn't new to the street fashion, in 2007 he did a collaboration with A Bathing Ape called Dropout Bear. This was the first time West collaborated with a brand on an original sneaker, to streetwear junkies this was huge.
Fast forward to 2016, West has successfully created four Yeezy seasons of fashion. One thing I don't like about the West's clothing line is the price! At Piff, a streetwear shop I work at in Minneapolis, we sell Yeezy shoes and clothing. They fly off the shelf every time we get new pieces in, and sell them for outrages prices, but the kids don't mind! It's all about the supply and demand. One of the Piff crew members was in Vegas this August, the same time West opened a pop-up shop. The line was insane, he told me it started inside the mall and kept going all the way to the parking ramp. The hype for West's products is truly inspiring.
Since I don't have any of West's products, I decided to make my own for a mere $4. Watch the video I created on how to make your own "Yeezy" inspired outfit.
Things you need:
Earth tone shirt/sweatshirt
Mine was a $4.00 - Dark SandStorm color sweatshirt from GoodWill
Manicure scissors
Sandpaper
