All Harry Potter super fans have a theory or two in the back of their mind about what might-have been or what could be. We look into the movies way too far and we over analyze every word of each book. These theories range from crazy to unimaginable to pretty darn accurate. Well, either way, they are interesting and worth taking a minute to check out.
1. Harry is Immortal
This one is pretty accurate, despite that fact that J.K. Rowling has yet to confirm it. Essentially, it brings us back to Professor Trelawney's Prophecy: “either must die at the hand of the other, for neither can live while the other survives”. In other words, Harry must kill Voldemort or Voldemort must kill Harry. At the other end, this means that whoever is left cannot die. Therefore, after Harry killed Voldemort, Harry cannot die because Voldemort was the only one able to kill him. Now Harry is immortal. Unfortunately, sacrificing his own death means that Harry will never be able to see his parents or other deceased loved ones again. So sad and so dark.
2. Ron is a time-traveling Dumbledore
This one is a bit out there, even I thought so at first. Aside from the similarities drawn between Ron and Dumbledore in terms of characteristics (red hair, long nose, love for candy, etc.), this theory focuses on the chess scene in Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone. Ron chooses to play both a king and a knight. This relates to the greater war at hand with Ron being the knight or loyal friend to Harry and Dumbledore being the King or controller of the whole situation. We are all aware that Dumbledore is experienced in time-travel, after-all he gives Hermione a time-turner. There are also a few mentions of warm socks in relation to both Ron and Dumbledore, coincidence? I think not. Ron is Harry's best friend, hence why Dumbledore has such a strong relationship with Harry and wants to protect him. How else would he always know where Harry is and what he is doing?
3. Dumbledore is death
I'm sure you're familiar with "The Tale of the Three Brothers". There are quite a few parallels drawn between the three brothers (aka the Peverell brothers) and another set of three: Harry, Snape and Voldemort. Voldemort being the eldest, he desires ultimate power and seeks the elder wand. Snape spends his life pining over his lost love for Harry's deceased mother, Lily Potter. Harry, the youngest, hides behind the cloak passed down to him until he gladly accepts death on his own terms. It was Dumbledore who at one time posessed all three items of the Deathly Hallows. The elder wand was stolen by Voldemort, but it was Draco who disarmed Dumbledore until Harry disarmed Draco and became the owner. The stone was hidden by Dumbledore in the snitch he gives to Harry in his will. The cloak was said to belong to Harry's father but it was Dumbledore who sent it to him. The death's of Snape and Voldemort can ultimately be traced back to Dumbledore's actions, and it is Dumbledore who greets Harry when he is believed to be dead. The only issue with this theory is the evidence proving that Dumbledore, Voldemort, and Harry are all distantly related to the Peverell family, meaning Dumbledore cannot be death.
4. Harry being a horcrux made the Dursley's hate him
Considering what we saw in Harry Pottter and The Deathly Hallows when somebody was near a horcrux, it makes a lot of sense. Ron wore the cursed necklace for only few weeks before he became irritable and started fighting with his friends. Imagine what it would be like having a huge horcrux living in your house for eleven years straight! This theory also has a loophole: why weren't Harry's friends affected if they spent so much time with him? Hmm... Maybe the Dursleys really did hate Harry for no other reason than being bad people.
5. Harry and Sirius are blood relatives
While the books have stated that Sirius is in fact Harry's godfather, some fans believe there is a bit of black running through his blood, if you know what I mean. It has always been a mystery who James Potter's parents were. All we know is that they were wealthy, had a child late in life, and always welcomed Sirius into their home. Somewhere in the Black family tree there is a Dorea Black who married a Charlus Potter. Could they possibly be Harry's Grandparents or Great-Grandparents? Nobody will know for sure. Everyone in this series seems to be related somehow, which is also a bit disturbing thinking about who marries who in the end.
6. The Muggles went to war with the Wizards, and won
Have you ever wondered why the wizarding world is so secretive and why wizards have to hide their powers? Wizards are powerful, far more powerful than muggles due to their powers. So why are they hiding? In Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, the Minister of Magic states that he must report back to the British Prime Minister. The only reason for this would be that the Muggles somehow gained control over the wizarding world and forced them to close off and stay hidden from the mortal world. Strange to think about huh?
7. The events of the Sorcerer's Stone predicted the rest of the series
In the first book/movie, when Harry, Ron, and Hermione journey to find the Sorcerer's Stone, they face a series of obstacles. It is said that these obstacles somehow foreshadow the rest of the series. The first obstacle is Devil's Snare, a plant similar to the Whomping Willow that Harry and Ron battle in The Chamber of Secrets. Second is the flying keys and the broomstick, symbolizing the quidditch match in The Prisoner of Azkaban when Harry is attacked by dementors. Third is the life-size chess match set up like a graveyard, foreshadowing the puzzle-like maze in Goblet of Fire where Harry finds a port-key to a graveyard. Fifth is a troll like Hagrids half-brother, Grawp, who we meet in Order of The Phoenix. Then there is a potion puzzle (left out in the movie) that relates to the emphasis on potions in The Half-Blood Prince, as Slughorn is introduced as the new potions instructor, taking the place of Snape, the old potions master who just so happens to be the Half-Blood Prince. Last is Harry's face-to-face confrontation with Voldemort, which is what eventually happens again in the end of The Deathly Hallows. Creepy huh?
8. It was all a hallucination
Harry spent eleven years of his life stuck in the cupboard under the stairs at the Dursley's house. This theory, otherwise known as the "Harry is insane" theory, states that Harry went mad after living in such awful conditions for so long and this caused him to dream up the entire idea of magic and Hogwarts. J.K. Rowling has even stated that the theory "speaks perfectly to the truth of the books". This is probably one of the best but most depressing theories out there.
So, what do you think?
