A Country Breakup Playlist

A playlist of songs that show how my heart has been feeling lately

A Country Breakup Playlist
Katie Grim

I will always be the first person in the room to admit that I am not the biggest fan of country music. I grew up around it and I know a lot of these songs because my dad plays the country radio station whenever we are in the car. So why make a list of them? I feel as though country music is one of the three things that ties my family together (hockey and boating are the other two). It's one thing genre that we all listen to and can agree on. Since there has been some tension in my life as far as love goes lately, I decided to compile a bunch of my favorite country love songs (and some modern ones) into a list to help me cope with my heartache. (P.S. If you know me personally, don't assume that you know what this list was created for, because you probably don't.)

1. Better As A Memory - Kenny Chesney

"'Cause good-bye's are like a roulette wheel"

2. What Hurts The Most - Rascal Flatts

"And not seeing that loving you/ is what I was trying to do"

3. Someday When I Stop Loving You - Carrie Underwood

"When a sailing ship don't need her moon/

It will break my heart but I'll get through"

4. When The Stars Go Blue - Tim McGraw

"Where do you go when you're lonely?"

5. Skinny Love - Bon Iver

"And I'll be holding all the tickets/

And you'll be owning all the fines"

(I KNOW THIS IS NOT A TRADITIONAL COUNTRY SONG; IT IS INDIE-FOLK AND MAKES SENSE IN THIS LIST.)

6. Tonight I Wanna Cry - Keith Urban

"Sometimes loving me just means leaving me alone."

7. Colder Weather - Zac Brown Band

"You gotta gypsy soul to blame/

And you were born for leavin'"

8. Please Remember Me - Tim McGraw

"New wind is gonna find your sail

That's where your journey starts"

9. Your Side Of The Bed - Little Big Town

"On your side of the bed, there's a picture of our wedding day "

10. Unlove You - Jennifer Nettles

"I can't unlove you/

My heart can't unbreak "

11. Like We Never Loved At All - Faith Hill

"But I'm still living with your goodbye"

12. Settle For A Slowdown - Dierks Bentley

"But your wheels just turn/

down the road ahead"

13. Here Comes Goodbye - Rascal Flatts

"Here comes the start of every sleepless night"

14. I Will Fall - Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio

"I thought I was good at loving you/
But our light went out when you wanted it to
"

15. After The Storm Blows Through - Maddie and Tae

"Like the slightest breeze will knock you to your knees "

16. You'll Think Of Me - Keith Urban

"Take your records, take your freedom "

17. Make You Miss Me - Sam Hunt

"Make you wish that you were sleeping in my shirt "

18. Alone - Sara Evans

"Sometimes loving me just means leaving me alone."

19. Mayday - Cam

"And as the water fills this sinking ship/
I know we have to leave too
"

20. In A Song - Hunter Hayes

"The sleepless nights, the drag-on fights, that silence always won"

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
