The Dreading End

The end of a great summer.

The Dreading End

It is really sad to say, but this great summer is unfortunately coming to an end. While college students are going back to school and flying back to their campuses from wherever they spent their great summers, we have to start preparing to get our minds out of vacation mode and into study mode. Although this end to the summer may be dreading, there are many things to look forward to for the school year. I know that I am definitely not looking forward to going to classes every day and taking multiple exams that really impact my grade and academics. However, looking on the bright side, as a rising junior, just two more years of this and I am officially done.

One of the main things that you will definitely miss about going back to school is seeing all your friends and classmates. Although you do see all your old friends back home for the summer or make new friends, college friends are definitely on another level. I can definitely say I miss all my college friends and can't wait to be back with them during the school year. In addition to reuniting with your college friends, just getting back in the "play hard work hard" mode is a good habit. During the summer, I know many take on jobs and internships, but there is a little bit of rest and relaxation that we feel. We need to start getting in the habit of becoming used to studying and being busy with all our responsibilities to prepare for our future career ahead.

Don't be sad that your great summer is coming to an end, but look towards the bright future ahead of you with a lot more adventures. But also, just because the summer is ending, that doesn't mean that you can't relax or be at peace at all. During the school year, I know I also have a lot of free time and take a lot of naps, more than a college student should. So, don't be all bummed out that a vacation ended, but be great to look forward to many more in the future when we have a lot more time and money in our hands.

Many people are often curious as to how they deal with the dreading end of summer. Well, you should start by getting back into your normal school routine, and it will be a lot easier for you to adapt to the school environment. Start by waking up earlier than usual and sleeping at regular hours, so that your sleep schedule becomes better adjusted when you start taking classes. Also, you can start reading books again so that all the assigned readings from professors assign don't come as a huge surprise. The main thing about dreading the end of a relaxing and peaceful summer is to prepare to get back into a completely different environment that involves more work and deadlines and exams.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
