Why It's Cool That You're Single On Valentine's Day

Who needs love, anyways? ...okay, i'm totally kidding.

Why It's Cool That You're Single On Valentine's Day

The single life is kind of a bummer, sometimes. Those nights when you're scrolling through Facebook and seeing all of the super cute (super posed) photos of your friends with their boyfriends/girlfriends just gives you that never-ending reminder that your only love, at this point in time, is the bag of chips you set on your night stand a few minutes ago.

What makes this even better is they have an entire holiday dedicated to love, to remind those of us who will be cuddling our puppies watching The Notebook that evening, that majority of the people you know will be on extravagant dates, being spoiled with gifts, and telling the whole world how in-love they are on social media (by the way, are you REALLY in love if it's not posted on Facebook?)

Do not fear, fellow single ladies and gents; I am here to remind you why it is absolutely okay to be single this Valentine's Day. So sit back, crack a beer (or Pepsi if you're under 21) and let's take a look at all of the reasons why we're the lucky one's this February 14th.

1. Let's face it, we're saving money

Super obvious, but super awesome. We don't have to worry about putting money to the side for someone special. We get to use that extra money for cool things... like gas and alcohol.

2. We don't have the stress of picking out the "perfect" gift

Figuring out a Valentine's Day gift can be super stressful, especially for newer couples. They know each other enough to celebrate the holiday, together, but not well enough to know what to pick out for one another. I've been watching my sister fret about what to get for her new boyfriend, while I scroll through Etsy for some rad tee shirts for myself (I know exactly what I like).

3. We can do what we want that day

We don't have to come to an agreement with a significant other on where to go that evening. Throw some sweatpants on, grab some ice cream, and relish in the fact that you have nobody to impress.

4. Not a money saver? Me neither! Go out and buy yourself something special

You have the extra money to, unlike your friends who are trying to figure out their car payment after buying their girl that necklace they thought she just HAD to have, raid the Valentine's Day sections of your local drug store. I'm sure all of the candy is on sale at this point; stuffed animals could be cute, too.

5. Take this time to love yourself

We're not all ready to put our time into someone, or to love someone else, when we're struggling to love ourselves, most times. Take a hot bubble bath, crank some tunes, put on a face mask; and LOVE YOURSELF.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
