The Summer heat is coming upon us. Everyone is trying to find every way to cool off in this heat that blindsided us. Even though I would much rather be hot than cold, sometimes this heat is unbearable. Here are a few tricks to help keep cool this Summer.
1. Eating ice cream
This is always the answer; everyone's favorite snack. Ice cream is a delicious dessert that will surely cool you off. Plus, now have something to do with your friends on this hot Summer day. Get out to the closest ice cream parlor and splurge away.
2. Sheets not blankets
As much as we all love to sleep with the covers on to protect us from that serial killer sleeping under our bed, it's time to face the facts. It's just too hot with the covers! Just try using the sheets and cut back on that winter blanket you have. I've tried it, and I haven't died yet!
3. Or even... sleep naked.

Under the right circumstances, this is the go-to solution. Obviously, layers are just making you hotter, so why not eliminate them. Just try not to make others uncomfortable in the process.
4. Run your wrists under cold water
There's something to do with the blood in your veins that get cooled off when you do this. An old fisherman taught me this on his boat when I said I was hot once in 90-degree weather, and I swear it worked so well then that I always do it for a quick cool down.
5. Fans everywhere
I'm in one of those families that have fans in every room. Circulation of air is key and it keeps the hot air pushed out and the cold air pulled in.
6. Cold showers
I know it's not a solution for everyone, but they're definitely one of the best ways to take a quick break from the hot humid air.
7. Drinking water
Staying hydrated is the best way to stay at a good body temperature. It's the oldest trick in the book.
8. Stay in your basement
Heat rises, so being at the lowest part of your house is always going to be the coldest. Some nights when it gets so hot in my house I just set up camp in my basement and have a great nights sleep.
