There have been lots of rumors surrounding the iPhone 7 that will be coming out soon. Arguably, the most shock-worthy rumor is that Apple is planning to no longer have a headphone jack in their phones to make the phone thinner. On the surface, this may seem like Apple is simply trying to benefit their customers, but due to their past, we can conclude that this is just another marketing scheme.
Since Apple's first iPhone in 2007, Apple has been upgrading their phones with little to change, convincing customers that they aren't living a fulfilled life, not until they upgraded to the new iPhone with a slightly bigger screen and a camera with more megapixels. Remember when the iPhone 5 came out, and everyone had to switch their chargers? Your iHome wasn't good anymore, and if you wanted to have more than one charger than the one your iPhone first came with, you'd expect to shell a good amount of money on that.
Pretty soon, we're all going to be throwing out the headphones we've collected since we were ten, just because Apple doesn't think they're cool anymore. We'll all go out and buy the new amazing Apple certified Bluetooth headphones, regretting the money we've spent by glowing in the thoughts of our cool new electronic that everyone will want to play with.
Apple isn't the only guilty company, though. There are 1000's of companies that rip off their customers time and time again. And I'm sick of it. I'm sick of seeing my family and those around me struggle, just to be giving that money to corporations worth millions. Though it's our choice to buy iPhones and iPads, society tells us that we need these materialistic items to live a fulfilled and productive life. If parents don't have technology readily available to their children, they are seen as an inferior parent. If a family doesn't have smartphones and the newest electronics, they are seen as poor and in need. And honestly, I think it's bulls**t.
We need to take a stand to these companies, and stop being obsessed with the idea of the newest, shiniest item. These companies don't care about their customers or their employees, but only about the cash, the money, the greed. I'm not saying I'm perfect here, I love my Macbook Air and my iPhone, but I refuse to buy a new electronic unless I absolutely need it. It makes me cringe knowing that these companies know how much of a grip they have on us, and that literally anything they tell us we'd believe.
I encourage you to think twice about buying something just because a big company tells you. Save your money for something worthy, you worked for it after all. If you really need a new iPhone go for it, just make sure you're not buying it because of a commercial with a funky music background.
