5 Confessions Of A Couch Potato

Being lazy is sometimes serious work!

5 Confessions Of A Couch Potato

It’s no secret that life is hard at times. For some, going on a run to exercise their worries away helps with the daily struggles of life, but for others, there is one and only one way to escape real life: laying down.

We have all been lazy before, but it takes a special person to be a full-blown “couch potato.” A couch potato is someone who finds an art in lying down on a Monday evening while watching TV and never really moving for the rest of the day.

There are things that couch potatoes are not proud of, but if you are a die-hard lazy person, you may have done some of these things yourself:

1. Once you sit down, you know you will more than likely not get up.

Sitting down or lying down is the definition of a couch potato. There is no such thing as moving when all you want to do is stay right where you are for the next two days.

2. Your “breaks” for studying include five-minutes of actual study time and an hour long “break” watching Netflix.

Netflix-binging is an addiction that many college students suffer from. But if you are a couch potato, you understand that the red, mesmerizing logo is basically hypnotizing you to watch more of your favorite show. You will start on homework when you watch all of season two or until that annoying tab that says “Are you still watching?” pops up, and you feel ashamed.

3. On a good day, you go to the library to be productive instead of lying in bed.

The library is a magical place where somehow everyone who enters is productive, or maybe it’s the stares other students give you when you enter a study room and don’t do anything, so you have to, at least, have your book out in front of you.

4. Exercise is against your moral beliefs.

The thought of exercising is great, but the act of exercising, not so much. Exercise is an absolute “no-go zone” for the average couch potato. You don’t run, walk at a brisk pace, or even do one push-up. It’s not what you stand for and refuse to look like a fool when everyone else at the gym seems to know what they’re doing.

5. You break plans with your friends to stay at home and watch TV.

Sorry, friends. Maybe you can hang out next time, but you know that your favorite show comes on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. and that show is what you’ve been looking forward to all week. It is truly a miracle when a weekend rolls around and you actually go out with your friends. You find enjoyment and comfort in your PJ’s and on the couch that probably has a dip in it from where you sit in the same spot every day.

So, don’t be ashamed if you’re the couch potato. Learn to take ownership of your laziness, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t turn Executive Couch Potato into a real life career.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
