Most people assume that all girls enjoy shopping, but let me be the first one to tell you that it's definitely not true. I have never enjoyed shopping for clothes, quite opposite in fact. The thought of shopping for me is about as appealing as going to the dentist for some people. It's just not an enjoyable task for me and I'd rather avoid it at all costs. Here are some signs that you may too, be an anti-shopaholic:
1. You think the way other people shop takes way too long.
Why do girls insist on making a day out of shopping? To willingly not just go to to one store to get that one thing, but to just go without an agenda and for hours on end. Why?! It really boggles my mind that people enjoy browsing different stores for an entire day.
2. Online shopping gives you anxiety.
You're telling me that you're going to buy something online without trying it on? Doesn't that scare you? How are you sure you're going to like it in person? "Oh, well I can always just ship it back." Yeah, no thanks, way too much effort.
3. You miss the days when your mom used to pick out your clothes.
The days when your mom bought all your clothes for you ended way too soon. A lot of girls hated when their mom's would surprise them with clothes for holidays or birthdays, claiming that they didn't know their "style" or what was "trendy." You, as an anti-shopper, ate this up. It was a relief knowing that your mom was going to go out and do this dreadful task for you. Whatever clothes she bought for you were stylish, just because you didn't have to do it yourself.
4. There's still the same clothes from five years ago in your closet.
If you look in my closet you'll see sweatshirts and T-shirts from my high school sports teams, that ugly Christmas sweater I bought three years ago, three pairs of leggings I rotate, a spirit jersey, and maybe three or four shirts that are acceptable to wear out (but they've been worn so many times that you're sick of them).
5. Shopping for accessories is an absolute no-go.
If you actually decide to buy a new article of clothing, there's no way you're taking the additional time to find cute jewelry or shoes to go with it.
6. The only type of "shopping" that appeals to you is food shopping.
Going to the grocery store? Hell yeah, I'll come with you. Shopping for food is way more fun than walking around a clothing store looking at every different shirt, blouse, pants, jacket and shoes.
7. You avoid Black Friday shopping at all costs.
You already dislike shopping on a normal day enough as it is. So there's no way you're going in the middle of the night, with swarms of people, to buy something you'll probably never wear anyway.
8. Your favorite outfit consists of a sweatshirt and leggings.
No need to put much thought into this. Going to class? The airport? To your friends house? To the movies? This is the only outfit you need, and somehow you always accumulate different sweatshirts without having to actually go buy them.
9. Lack of shopping equals lack of fashion sense.
Since you might be sticking to the legging and sweatshirt combination regularly, you might be lost when it comes to actually putting a cute outfit together. Your friends don't bother asking you for advice on what to wear, because they know you're pretty clueless when it comes to putting an outfit together. At least we have Pinterest to help us out when we're desperate.
10. You don't understand how girls look so put-together everyday.
It's because they aren't like us. Some girls have the gift of motivation to look cute everyday. This is probably because they do go shopping every so often, so they have the clothes to wear something different and stylish on a daily basis.
11. When you do decide to go shopping, you only need 20 minutes.
All girls that hate shopping sometimes have to face the mall when there is something we absolutely need. We will only go if we are alone or with someone that isn't going to make us stay longer than necessary. We have a strict goal -- find the thing we need, try on the thing, buy the thing and get the hell out of there.
12. When you're getting ready to go out and realize you should start shopping more.
It's finally the weekend and you're trying to figure out what you're going to wear. You can either go with the legging and sweatshirt combo we talked about earlier and look like a troll, or you can suck it up and go shopping for real people clothes. Unfortunately, us anti-shoppers won't always be fortunate to have a sister or roommate to borrow from, so we'll have to learn to face our dislike of shopping.
