If you’re heading to New York anytime during the fall semester or are thinking about seeing a Broadway show in the future, check out these new shows opening this September and October.
1. "The Encounter"
Opens September 12— This one-man play focuses on the true story of a photographer who gets lost in a remote location between Brazil and Peru in 1959.
2. "Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical"
Opens October 6— Based on the classic 1942 movie, the musical will bring the joy of the holidays throughout the year into one glorious production.
3. "Heisenberg"
Opens October 13— From the writer for the Tony-winning “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” comes a new play about what resulting relationship that forms after Georgie kisses a much older man, Alex, in a crowded London train station.
4. "The Cherry Orchard"
Opens October 16— Chekhov’s classic play about a famous actress who returns to her family’s estate before the sale of their cherry orchard is coming to back to the stage.
5. "The Front Page"
Opens October 20— If you loved the movie “Spotlight” or the musical “Newsies,” get ready for more journalism. Based on the 1928 comedy, “The Front Page” is about two reporters who try to beat each other for the big stories.
6. "Falsettos"
Opens October 27— A man named Marvin must figure out how to navigate life with his unique relationships with his ex-wife, new boyfriend, his son, his psychiatrist and his neighbors.
7. "Les Liaisons Dangereuses"
"Opens October 30"— The sexual world of 18th century France comes to life in this new titillating production about two ex-lovers who use seduction as a game.
