A quick trip home and a relaxing long weekend is something every college student is able to appreciate. At Villanova, we go one step further with a week-long fall break that follows the grueling week of midterms. There’s nothing better than having no worries and enjoying some fresh home-cooked meals after a week of all-nighters. When Saturday and Sunday roll around we are faced with the stark reality that it is time to go back to school. The first few days back call for some major lifestyle adjustments; here are the 8 stages of coming back to school after fall break as told by the Kardashians.

1. Reuniting with Friends

When you’re used to seeing your friends daily, being apart for a week can seem like an eternity. The first day back from break is filled with spending as much time together as possible to make up for all the time you spent apart.

2. Debuting a New Look

Break is a great time to call your hairdresser, schedule an appointment and make some changes. A new cut, color, or both can be expected from more than a handful of people. Fall break also calls for blowing the money you don’t have on things you probably don’t 100% need. Expect others to have done the same.

3. Stressing about Homework

While there was no class for a week that doesn’t mean your professors haven’t already planned to assign papers and quizzes for the day you come back. Two days back already feels like two months.

4. Becoming Sleep Deprived (again)

When all the work starts to pile up and there are not enough hours in the day, you already know it’s going to be a late night. Be ready to pound the coffee. Lucky you, it’s PSL season ;)

5. Seeing your Midterm Grades

Having to wait a whole week to get your grades back has to be classified as a form of torture. The only thing worse than waiting, is waiting and not getting the grade you were hoping to see.

6. Hitting the Dining Halls

When you’re home you have your parents and siblings around all the time. You can bet they’re going to judge if you take seconds or thirds at the dinner table. Back at school, no one cares what you eat, when you eat it, or how much you eat. The post-meal food babies are real.

7. Going out with your Girls

It’s probably been a week since the last time you and your #squad had a night out. Getting everyone together and making a plan may seem like a lot of work, but when your favorite song comes on you know it was worth it.

8. Remembering Winter Break is 2 Months Away

Once you get settled in you’re going to remember why you were so excited to leave for fall break. When December hits and finals come around everyone on campus will be counting down the minute until they can leave.

College is great and all, but nothing will ever beat being home.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
