As the new semester wages on, your diet plans from the beginning of the new year are most likely not functional anymore.

Odds are you ran into the dining hall at least once this semester and just had to have that cookie, or cupcake. Or if you’re lucky enough, you went shopping and got some of your favorite snacks to keep on hand in case of tragedy or late night hunger. I find myself stuck in 2010, and continuing to buy snacks that 13 year old me would eat on the daily.

Every time I go shopping and stock up for the month, there’s always some staples that I just can’t leave the store without.

1. Oreos

Obviously Oreos are a life changer. They go good in any mood, and with anything honestly. Whether you’re eating your cookies with milk like the average person, or stuffing cookies in your mouth between bites of pizza (a little gross but who am I to judge), you know you can’t live without them. Ps- If you’re not eating double stuff, get out of my face.

2. Goldfish

This snack that smiles back is anything but boring. This is one of those snacks that you can eat absentmindedly until you reach the bottom of the bag. It’s one of those snacks that tastes like 6th grade if that makes any sense. It’s an ultimate staple to keep in your dorm, because even when things are super stressful, this snack makes you feel a little bit of nostalgia and heals your soul.

3. Animal crackers

Until a couple of months ago this was a snack that didn’t cross my mind. I came across these fun creatures again recently, and it was like a revelation. I had forgotten how fun and also delicious these babies are, and how much I really need them in my life for those late night snacks after spending hours in the library.

4.Cuties

Although I didn’t eat these clementines much as a child, it’s true that they are super cute! They’re quick and easy to eat on the go, which is perfect for short breaks in between classes, or for a healthy option for dessert! And the difference between eating them as a kid and as a college student is that you can eat more now without getting full, or feeling guilty. Healthy snacks can still be yummy!

5. Mac and Cheese

This is a no brainer. Mac and Cheese is a huge part of my diet these days, and it may be even more so then when I would get snowed in at my friends’ houses as a child, and their mom’s would throw some mac and cheese on for lunch. Now I'm able to make it for myself, and yes I do still buy the Spongebob or Scooby Doo shapes. I dare you to judge me!

6. Fruit snacks

Honestly, I have a huge love for fruit snacks, and it has only grown more with age. I love all kinds, but mostly Scooby Doo fruit snacks, or smiley faces. Although they aren’t the healthiest, they taste so good and they’re so addicting, how can you not go through a box at a time?

Sometimes you need to just have a moment of clarity and think about your childhood to help save you from the stress of being a college student. Here’s some good places to start, and also some really tasty foods to keep in your dorm at all times for the times when you just need to eat until you fall asleep or something. You do you, but at least you know you’ll be feeling at ease for a second while you do it. So tell me, what's your guilty pleasure snack?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
