The Indianapolis Colts made the decision to sign quarterback Josh Freeman on Dec. 29 for their game against the Tennessee Titans on Jan. 3. Freeman, a 2009 draft pick, was a starting quarterback on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009-2013. He also started one game with the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. However, Freeman has not played in the NFL in over two years.

The Colts decided to sign him on as Sunday’s starter due to complications with the team's starting, backup, and third-string quarterbacks. This has been a tough season for the Colts regarding quarterbacks. Starter Andrew Luck has been out for the past six games due to a lacerated kidney and partial abdominal muscle tear obtained during the team's win against the Denver Broncos in week nine. The Colts’ backup, Matt Hasselbeck, was out due to a shoulder injury, and the third string quarterback, Charlie Whitehurst, was unable to play due to an injured hamstring.

Because of this, the Colts obviously needed a new quarterback. Therefore, they signed Freeman, along with Ryan Lindley, on Dec. 29. Reports from coach Chuck Pagano have been positive; Freeman and Lindley have been playing well and learning quickly.

With both Freeman and Lindley working hard, the Indianapolis Colts managed a 30-24 win on Jan. 3 against the Tennessee Titans. Between the two of them, Freeman and Lindley threw 207 passing yards. Their performances were remarkable, considering both quarterbacks signed less than a week before the game. The win was great for the Colts, but unfortunately, that, in conjunction with other factors from games earlier in the season, was not enough to take the Colts to the playoffs. They ended the season with a win, finishing with eight wins and eight losses.

In other news regarding the Colts, this is the end of Chuck Pagano’s four-year contract. He met Jan. 4 with the Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, to discuss a possible future with the Indianapolis Colts. Although Colts fans everywhere are disappointed the team will not be heading to the playoffs or Super Bowl 50, there is always next season for the Indianapolis Colts -- a season that will hopefully have less injuries in store for the team.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
