New York City is both diverse and unified. It creates both a push and a pull towards the direction that we all want to take, making each day a little simpler. It surrounds us with individuals of similar purposes, yet completely different perspectives. It is home, it is away from home, and it is everything in between. New York City is not black and white; it reflects everything like rivers do of rainbows. It is saturated with color.
1. Yellow
The first color that comes to my mind. The infamous yellow cabs form an endless carpet through the streets of New York City. From any angle, at any given time, there is always at least a single taxi within your peripheral vision, ready to steer you home. There is something oddly comforting about yellow.
2. Green
843 acres of New York City are dedicated to the Central Park. It is the home away from home for any NY resident. It is an escape. There is nothing quite as soothing as a picnic on the grass within the most promising of views.
3. Red
From your lipstick to the bottom of your shoes, there is no fashion like that of New York City. It is diverse. It is bold. It is raw and it is free. Express yourself In New York City.
4. Brown
Clippity-clop marks the sound of the horses' hooves. The horses symbolize eternal freedom and wisdom. They add color, sound, and meaning to our streets.
5. Black
Along with many other colors, the buildings of New York City grow effortlessly in the vertical direction, keeping us close to one another, to where we want to be, and allowing us to bolt from the hectic outdoors.
6. Purple
Hunter College: where I personally spend most of the hours of each day. It is where diversity unifies, and where books overwrite any other classification. It is where we are educated, and where our aspirations dwell within the limits of challenges. It is both our now and our future.
The Empire State Building shines a new light each day, with an iridescent tint of incredible meaning. It guides individuals along their daily paths, and ensures that no one is lost in this beautiful city of color.
