Every so often, a fraternity will switch things up and decide to throw a themed party. This has its pros and cons. It's great because themed party outfits make for great Instagram posts and makes it feel like it's Halloweekend, which is one of the greatest weekends of college. The not-so-great part about themed parties is that it often leaves you scrambling for something to wear that fits the theme and, as odd as it seems, you would feel out of place dressed in normal clothes if everyone else is participating in the theme. So, save yourself the frustration and pick up a few of these themed party basics.

Risky Business

This theme is usually a hit because it is cute and comfortable. The best part is, it doesn't require pants other than some spandex shorts. If the shirt is white, bonus points for you, but any oversized button down shirt will do the trick.

Athletes And Mathletes

As you can see, a lot of different things can be used for this theme. Throw on an oversized jersey and some sneakers, or a polo and glasses, and you will fit this theme to a T.

Kentucky Derby

Typically a theme reserved for springtime "dages," "darties," or whatever term you use to describe a party during the day, to nail this one, think pastels, sundresses, and floppy hats. This theme will make you feel classy, even though you're surrounded by all of the questionable behaviors that take place during a regular party, but are now exposed by daylight.

80's ANYTHING

You are bound to attend some sort of 80's themed party during your college years. Shown above is an 80's Ski Lodge theme, but you'll see that a fraternity can turn anything into an 80's themed party. As long as it's tight and neon-colored, you're in the clear.

Woodstock

Any decade has the potential to become a party theme, but sometimes, they can get a little more specific, like this 60's-turned-Woodstock theme. Any boho inspired piece from your wardrobe will do the trick, which is convenient since this style is on trend right now.

When it comes to a themed party, don't forget the golden rule: anything goes! People will go all out for themed parties, so have fun and be creative. Of course, these are not the only kinds of themed parties you will see. Some themes you are guaranteed to see are America, your school's colors, beach party, and just about any holiday. What themed parties have been your favorite, and how do you dress for them? Share with us!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
