College, Thank You For Introducing Me To My Best Friend

To the person you wouldn't be able to make it through college without.

College, Thank You For Introducing Me To My Best Friend

Going away for college means temporarily saying goodbye to many things and opening a new chapter in your life. A chapter full of new places, new people, new experiences and everything else in between. Going into this new journey in your life is scary enough, especially because you're going into it without your usual friends. These are the people you are used to and can always be found at your side. For a while, you don’t know how you’re going to do it all without them by your side. But then, before you know it, you meet someone. Someone who you instantly click with. Someone who, before you know it, becomes your best friend. Someone to be at your side during your first year of college and all of the rest. So, as the school year comes to an end, let’s take a moment to thank our new best friend who college brought us to.

Thank you for…

1. Understanding me

Even though we’ve only known each other for a year, you understand me and my confusing thought process. We can tell what each other is thinking, without even having to say words, and usually think of things or say things at the same time. You understand my addiction to "Grey's Anatomy" and caffeine better than anyone, and for that, I'm grateful.

2. Always being up for a fun night out

For always going out with me (even when we shouldn't).

3. Or a night in

For staying in when everything gets a little too crazy (or we get too broke to be able to) just to have a relaxing night in, binge-watching Netflix and eating tons of food.

4. Laughing with me about the smallest things for hours

Honestly, no matter how far from funny something is, we can laugh about it for hours. Our texts conversations always make me laugh out loud and put me in the best mood.

5. Always being by my side

Thanks for being right there next to me as we experience college together, making memories.

6. Motivating me

Thanks for pushing me to do my best and make good choices (sometimes).

7. Being weird with me

Thanks for always being weird with me and letting me be my complete self around you.

8. Not judging me

Thank you for never judging me or my past.

9. Being a shoulder to cry on

Thank you for being there for me during the minor breakdowns about being stressed about school or boys, but also thanks for always letting me know when it’s time to pull myself together and move on.

10. Helping me survive our classes

I'm so thankful for our late night study sessions together, binge drinking coffee at midnight, ordering late night pizza and cramming the night before huge exams. Thanks for making it a little easier to bear with fun off-topic conversations that help me to procrastinate even longer, funny methods of memorizing things and someone to always complain to.

11. Always being up for food

Thanks for getting food with me between classes, late at night and basically whenever I need someone to go with. I wouldn’t make it through the day without our daily coffee trips, either. Thanks for also going out to eat or picking up food whenever I’m one meal plan dinner away from exploding.

12. Keeping me from going crazy

Freshman year was full of ups and downs. Everything was brand new to us and overwhelming, and I, honestly, wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. Thank you for keeping me sane and knowing exactly how to help when I'm stressed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
