Today marks the first (very needed) official day of Thanksgiving Break! You are finally home or on break and won't have to worry about school -- that is, until the Sunday before classes start back up again and it is everybody's least favorite time of the semester... finals season. But for now, let's focus on one of the best breaks of the year, Thanksgiving! Here is how a typical college student's Thanksgiving Break goes, with the help of some furry friends.
1. You start getting excited to go home while packing the day before you leave.
I may have slightly over-packed.
2. You say goodbye to your roommate(s), saying you will miss them, but you are secretly happy to get a break from being with them 24/7.
I am sad and waving goodbye to you, but inside I am excited to have my own space for a bit. Nothing personal.
3. You realize during the drive home that you are free of responsibilities, and get even more pumped about going home.
Freedom!
4. As soon as you get home, you run to your parents to give them the biggest hug ever and repeatedly say how much you missed them.
Siblings and other family members I can talk to later... right now I just need to be with my mom and dad.
5. The first morning you are home during break is always so relaxing... especially since you don't have to set an alarm and get ready for class.
Oh, how I missed waking up whenever I wanted to.
6. You get to hang out with some of your friends who are home the same time you are.
I missed you so much! Let's go run and I will fill you in on how college has been so far.
7. You go back to work to make some extra cash for school, and get to hangout with your favorite coworkers.
"How's work been since I've been gone Joe?"
"It's been really ruff."
8. You get to see some family members who are in town for Thanksgiving (and you are dreading the stereotypical questions about college).
I am just going to pretend I did not hear you ask how college is.
9. On Thanksgiving you are the first one at the table because you have been dreaming of this meal since November 1.
Pass the turkey, please!
10. Next comes Black Friday! You either are excited to go shopping and get some great deals on things, or you are not going to participate in it at all.
They are prepared for Black Friday.
11. The night before you go back to school has finally arrived, and you remember you have a ton of homework due the day break is over.
I should have done this before break... who am I kidding? I would not have done it early even if I tried.
12. Good things have to come to an end, and now it is time to pack and head back to school.
Do I have to go back?
Have a great Thanksgiving break everyone!
