11 Thoughts You Had When You Were Home Over Break

Leaving home for the first time and going to college can be hard. Coming home to live with your parents over break can be even harder. Adjusting to life with your parents again isn't always easy. Here are 11 thoughts you have probably had while staying with your parents over break.

1. Food! All the free food!

Coming home from college often times means there is more food available to you than what fits in a mini fridge or what is served on campus. Often times food you don't even have to pay for.

2. What are rules?

Rules? What? Is curfew actually still a thing?

3. MY BED

Even if your dorm bed is great (even though its probably not) sleeping in your own bed again is magical.

4. Chores? No, thank you.

I get that we had a routine before I left for school, mom and dad, but you know, I do what I want. (See no. 2) Thanks for understanding.

5. Expectations? Why?

For some reason once you're home from college your parents have expectations for you to do things like work and be responsible. But sometimes you just want to sleep in until 1 p.m. and not shower for a few days, okay?

6. I'm going to do all the things!

You told yourself you would finally organize your room and get rid of all the old things you don't need or want anymore, but lets be real that didn't happen. Instead your days looked a little more like this:

7. I'm basically dating Netflix.

Yes, I am emotionally attached to Parks and Rec characters. Yes, this is okay. Yes, we are in love. We haven't left bed all break!

8. Really they've been doing this without me?

The whole world MAY NOT (or it just might actually) revolve around me, but can my family really live normal lives without me around all the time? I'm kind of offended they just keep on with out me.

9. We should really get another pet.

Yes, mittens is a great cat. So is Joe, but dad I think we need another one. You know? We could just have a bunch and I don't even need real life human interaction.

10. I should get a medal for this.

Look! Parents! I did the dishes. And I washed my hair today. I'm such a good human and such a good child. Love me, yeah? Oh, you expected this from me all along? Okay, well thats cool too, but I am pretty great.

11. Can I go back yet?

Seeing your parents and family again is wonderful. So can having free food and the comfort of your own bed, but the freedom of college is just a little more comfortable. And well thats where your friends and most your life are now, so even though being home is nice so is returning to what you consider "the real world" now too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
