For those of us coming into college we made a pact, not with each other but to ourselves. Some of us wanted to find the love of our lives and most of us wanted to ride through our college years living the glorified single life. But for those of us that met in the middle, we got the experience of living the single life and being in a relationship. So here is a letter to the loves of our lives that we found in college starting with my story.
It all started like any other college story, a keg, a party and a girl. Only this time, it wasn't my girlfriend whom I was with, but instead another girl... My girlfriend currently actually gave me relationship advice for the other girl. Can you believe it? I couldn't. Anyways, that's when it all started, from that moment we became friends and later on relationship. I went into college thinking I could live out being single, but honestly at times it got very lonely and boring. What's the point of Netflix and chill if you're by yourself? And not chill in the derogatory term. For the past year and a half I have been in a loving, committed and lastly a relationship that I can be proud of. Summer is the demise of any college relationship, because you'll miss the person. Missing your significant other begins when you get home and have to sleep alone in bed.... Guys are fans of cuddling too ladies. Missing your significant other means taking off work just to drive to see them, or take a plane to see them or do anything just to hold them in your arms. Missing your significant other means having them on your mind. And for Katie, I know you're reading this, but you're always on my mind. Lastly, missing your significant other in college means losing your best friend for a few months.
Although the Summer seems awful, its actually really not that bad. I know at school you probably either spend or try to spend as much time as possible with your significant other, but to give you the truth, that's really not healthy. I guess we all fail when it comes to that, but hey, who cares? When you're in love you're in love. The summer really proves to us how much you love each other, if that love means staying up late and texting or having phone conversations or if that love means traveling long distances over the summer. As my headline states, the summer is almost the same as college, sure you won't be able to see your significant other as much as you did at school, but everyone has the ability to make the time to see them and never forget the love within the relationship.
