My First Week Of College

Some insight to my college life!

My First Week Of College
HP

Well, we've finished our first week of college, and classes. How do you feel? I feel pretty accomplished by the fact that, HEY, I made it to college!! I'm sure all of us on campus and commuters alike, have been feeling the heat and worrying about textbooks, homework(If you got any, like me) and where you can get food from at 2 AM. Do you like college? Do you hate college? Well, whatever your story is, you do you, girl. Here's mine:

I moved into my college dorm on Thursday, the first day of September. I was all on my lonesome in my dorm, for three days until my roommate came (she's awesome, btw). I made a lot of friends and I was hanging with everybody like the cool girl I am...just kidding, but seriously I hung out with some people and did a community service project which was actually pretty fun! I really like college, having the responsibility to go to classes and get your shit done on your own is pretty awesome as well. I've been able to experience a lot in my short time here, so far and I'm really grateful for that. Living in a dorm and living the whole "college experience" is so much different then living at home and going to high school. I'm actually surprised at the freedom college has given me, as I said before.

College is obviously different for everyone, but this is how my first week has been. Pretty much the only downside has been walking across town and the insane humidity but other than that, I love college. I can't wait to see what else it has in store for me, I've made a ton of great friends, I have an awesome roommate, shout out to Sam!!, and my classes are great. We're off to a great start to the semester with our welcome events , and I imagine that it can only get better from here on out. How is college going for you? What fun freshman welcome events does your school provide? College is something you should enjoy and share with everyone! Hope everyone's first week of college is just as good!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
