Did Someone Say "College Men?"

11 signs to watch out for.

Did Someone Say "College Men?"

Alright ladies, let's be real for a second. I know you're going to college to get a degree in something you love so you can get a job where you don't HAVE to go to work, you GET to go to work -- but you can't deny the excitement about college men. Finally, you'll be surrounded by the heart-melting smiles of well groomed, artfully dressed, delicious smelling, intelligent, and driven men. No longer will you have to listen to boys guess your bra size, or hide your nose in your sweater because they guy next to you still hasn't mastered the art of showering. No longer will you have to listen to tired pick up lines and sit through mind numbing dates with boys who have nothing to talk about.

College men.

The reality of college "men", however, is far less exciting. I hate to break the news, but not every guy attending college has actually managed to somehow forget everything they've known for their entire life about being a guy and get their act together in the way us ladies desire. Sadly, in one short year I have learned enough about "college men" to know exactly what to avoid.

I don't want you to have the notion that all hope is lost, because that is not the case. There are some very amazing men that you will meet in your time at college. But, since there are still quite a few guys who are trouble, here are 11 things to watch out for:

1. If he posts Snapchat stories of selfies or himself rapping/singing.

This is more of a personal preference, but in my case I'd be creeped out if my guy took more selfies than I do.

2. If he only has girl friends.

A guy needs his guy friends. Women are pretty intense and it doesn't make sense for a guy to need to get a break from his girlfriend and go hang out with more girls. Male bonding is a real thing, a guy has got to have his guy pals to keep him from losing it.

3. If he doesn't really care about his classes and isn't motivated.

There is no bigger turn off than a guy who has no goals. Or worse, has goals but no drive to reach them. You're going to college for a reason so avoid falling for a guy who won't be able to motivate you, keep you pushing forward, and help you stay on track.

4. If he backs up into a parking space.

This one isn't completely serious. A friend of mine told me to watch out for this and to my surprise, the guy I was really into always backed into his parking spot and she ended up being very right about him (lol).

5. If he is professing his feelings for you after a week.

In rare cases it could be true and real, but most of the time when someone is already so in love with you after an extremely short amount of time chances are the person is more into the idea of love rather than having it with you specifically. And that's a recipe for disaster.

6. If he follows Twitter/Instagram accounts like "Big Booty Brunettes."

It's plain and simple that accounts like these are made for immature guys who still see and use women as an object of sexual pleasure. No thank you.

7. If you're constantly having to remind him of things you've already told him.

Especially if it's something that is important to you, someone who is genuinely interested in you and cares for you will be paying attention to those things without you having to remind him that you hate Italian food for the third time.

7. If he treats his mom like crap.

This is a huge no-no. If a man treats the woman who gave birth to him like that why would he treat you any better? Obviously, there are certain circumstances in which you can decipher for yourself, but as a rule of thumb, avoid the guys who don't treat their mother's very well.

8. If you catch him lying about random things here and there.

Trust is the foundation for a strong and healthy relationship, so if he's already lying about things that don't even matter (like if he is repeatedly denying that he went to a party when you saw him there and have your pal's snapchat story to prove it), there will be no trust between you two-- so don't even waste your time.

9. If he tries to get you into bed the first time you meet.

This one is a no brainer, I hope, because guys who want more than just sex with you will try to have some conversation with you before jumping into bed. If a guy sees you for the first time and thinks "I have to bang her" I guarantee he isn't also thinking "wow, I'm going to marry her someday". If, however, you're just looking for a random hookup that's perfectly fine, but the chance of a relationship blooming out of that isn't very high.

10. If he posts for attention online.

"Having such a bad day... wish I had someone to cheer me up:(" NEXT. If a guy feels the need to post his every emotion online for the whole world to see, don't think for a second that subtweets aren't coming your way when you two have a fight. If you want your entire relationship exploited online, go for it.

11. If he acts different in front of his friends.

I'm not talking about the kind of "different" where he holds back on the affection, I'm talking about him becoming a totally different person "different". That's a sign of insecurity and immaturity, if he can't be himself and is constantly putting on a show around his friends (or you), he still has a whole lot of growing up to do, but that's up to you if you want to deal with that.

Of course there are a lot of exceptions, and there are truly a lot of great guys out there, just be wary of the trouble makers. College is about learning and having fun, but there is no need to waste your time on the wrong guys.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
