Being a 20-something college student is tough sometimes; not only do you have hours of studying and classes every day, but you also are trying to learn how to function as a semi-responsible, barely self-sustaining adult.
Our generation is quite literally the definition of "emerging adulthood," we are trying, but not quite there. We can feed ourselves, but our parents still pay for our food. We can get ourselves up and out the door, but we might not make it through the day without a teary phone call to mom at 2 a.m. questioning all our life choices. But it's OK, because at least we are not alone; somehow, the rest of the world finds a way to turn the real life struggle that is our daily life into hilarity and humor. And so ensues the daily life of a college student summarized by the depressingly accurate show "Girls."
1. When you have to wake up for your 8 a.m. after being up all night, working on a paper for that very class.
2. Trying to explain why you are so busy, and tired all the time, yet still feel like you get nothing accomplished.
3. When you realize that after working so hard through high school to get into college, and then working even harder in college to get a good job, you will suddenly be thrown into the real world of having an actual job, with bills, and it will suck.
4. When you are laying in bed finally trying to sleep and suddenly question every decision you've ever made.
...and ever stupid thing you've ever done, and start thinking about stupid things like the future, and the concept of infinity, and other things that you don't need to think about at the moment. Because your brain hates you, and doesn't want you to sleep, apparently.
5. Realizing your friends are the best, and without them, you'd probably have actually dropped out to be a stripper like you always (half-jokingly) threaten to do.
6. Defending your diet cheat day (more like cheat week) like...
7. Goes out. Drinks too much. Eats too much. Regrets. Repeats.
8. Dealing with life like...
9. When you finally get a job and now you have to be responsible.
10. Pep talks to yourself, anytime, anywhere.
Before an exam, mid-way through pulling an all-nighter, trying to run on the treadmill at the gym, in the bathroom at the bar. They are always helpful, and sometimes necessary.
11. Making any kind of big decision about life.
12. At your unpaid internship thinking to yourself.
13. When spring is here, summer is around the corner, and you never went to the gym like you kept saying you would.
14. Every conversation with your parents.
15. When it is Sunday evening and you are laying in bed, still in your pjs, watching Netflix, with a whole bag of Doritos.
You realize you haven't done anything you were supposed to do that day, but you just shrug and click "watch next episode."
