Confused? Yeah, I can understand that, allow me to explain. Hillary Clinton is just one member of the Democratic Party. Come Election Day, you will find me casting my vote for Hillary, because the 2016 Election will decide more than just who is going to be president. It is a battle for the very soul of America.
I will not accost Trump for his rampant ableism, sexism, or racism. If I’m being honest with myself, I fail to stay politically correct at all times myself. I will not call him out for his dishonesty, for his mistreatment of veterans, or his tax evasion. But these aforementioned facets of Trump and all his other shortcomings are a huge issue and should have a place in your mind as you decide your vote.
This is why I consider my vote for Hillary less a vote for her, and more a vote against Trump. One that will actually have weight and merit. If you’re thinking of voting third party, I urge you to reconsider. And if you vote Jill Stein or Gary Johnson but you were a Bernie Sanders supporter, then I’m not sure what to tell you. Bernie has sided with Hillary, he sees the right way to win this election for America.
I understand not wanting to vote for Hillary or Trump, but you can’t pretend that they are equals in how terrible they are. There has never been one candidate who is so qualified against someone who is just not. I’m not the biggest Hillary fan, no, but I can see that she is a much better choice for president of the United States.
I am of the opinion that, regardless of who wins this election, we as a country are in need of a political revolution. Knowing that, my motives become clearer. Donald Trump, though charismatic, is not a team player. He isn’t going to work with millennials, Gen X, Baby Boomers, or any other demographic, because he isn’t going to know what to do. I’m not really trying to convince anyone to vote any specific way. But at the end of the day you have to feel that you played your part in maintaining democracy. Will that satisfaction really be gained by a vote for Trump?
