Binge watching Gilmore Girls right before college was a terrible idea, it completely skewed my entire idea of the reality to come. Rory literally possessed the most perfectly balanced college lifestyle, and we all envied her for it. She was at an Ivy League school, but come on there's no way the whole Yale experience is that different from every other university. Rory totally screwed us all, and I am calling her out for it for it.
1. The chance of someone getting into all of their top choices, especially Ivy Leagues, is slim to none.
We get it, Miss perfect, you're one in a million.
2. Something almost just as impossible- pleasing yourself and your entire family with your final choice.
My sister wants me at her school, my dad wants me far, and my friends want me everywhere they are (including the community college back home)- yeah right, Rory.
3. The whole "leave your door open and make friends" philosophy is absolute crap.
Maybe Mom can bring pizza to up your friend count, but we aren't even allowed to keep our doors open. Man, I do wish it was that easy.
4. Balancing your old life and all of your relationships back home, with your new life, is way more difficult than Rory makes it seem.
Rory kept basically all of her relationships back home, Paris made the transition from high to college with her, Lane literally moved into their dorm at one point! HOW?
5. Multiple perfect love stories, in a sea of horny college-aged dudes? Good one.
Rory has pretty good luck when it comes to guys- they're all good looking and they genuinely love her. If I had a penny for every time that's happened to me, I would be homeless.
6. A semester off is usually a lot longer than a semester and you don't just go back in and end up on top again.
Miss Perfect took a semester off and somehow still graduated on time; oh and did i mention that she came back and went right back to Yale Daily News and became the editor? She is a legend.
I love Rory and all of her awesome attributes- but I am definitely hating big time on her perfect college experience, especially all the ways she tricked me into believing mine would be the same.
