Growing up, you make all sorts of friends, and some of those friends have the privilege of becoming your best friend. The older you get, the more complex your friendships become. When it is time to move away to college, you know how badly you'll miss your bestie. I'm here to tell you though, you will meet that one person who you can't ever let go. Your college best friend will be experiencing the same "firsts" as you are, and together you all will grow and figure out who you truly are. So, here's to my college best friend, hopefully you can relate, too.
To the best friend I met in college,
We met in our first week of classes. We carried on small talk with the other students sitting around us. At first, we were unsure of each other, but we decided to grab lunch in-between classes one day. That's where we started to realize how much we had in common. I remember an activity we did in class, and almost every answer that we gave was the exact same. But, it wasn't until you invited me to go out to dinner with you one night that our friendship truly blossomed.
Soon we became each other's go-to person. We ate every meal together, walked to classes with each other, and eventually, we were spending all of our time with one another. It was weird if someone saw us not together. I laugh at how much we have in common, we basically really are the same person, and that makes me love you even more.
Thank you for being you and loving me. You're always there when I need a good laugh or a shoulder to cry on. I appreciate your opinions on certain situations, even if they don't seem welcomed at the time. You're my very favorite person to take road trips with or jam to High School Musical Radio with. As much as we seem to annoy each other, I know I could never remain upset with you. Thank you for always being there for me to vent about something that is bothering me or just let me talk about something random you really don't care about. You are really the best, and I know I can count on you for anything like you can count on me.
Being away from you this summer is truly hard. I miss you like crazy and I'm so ready to see you again. I find myself questioning what I did without you for 18 years -- you help guide my life more than anyone ever has. Meeting you was the best thing to happen to me freshman year of college! I love you dearly, and I'm glad I found someone who will never let me down.
So, here's to our future adventures -- may they be as awesome as you and as crazy as me!
Xoxo,
Your forever friend, seriously, you're never getting rid of me.
