Heading into week 4 of the college football season, we’ll predict the College Football Playoff.
TCU-
There is a lot of confidence about Gary Patterson and the Horned Frogs this season, and with good reason. The Horned Frogs got left out of the Playoff last year, and I think this year they are playing with something to prove. Their schedule should favor them, and I don’t see any problems until Nov 21. The game is at Oklahoma, a tough Big 12 team that embarrassed Tennessee earlier this season. This game could go either way, but I think TCU will pull it out. The next game is the rivalry game with Baylor, a rematch of last year’s thrilling 61-58 finish. I think the Horned Frogs will win this one decisively, and head to the College Football Playoff. Trevone Boykin has something special right now, and I think they are a very talented team.
Alabama-
Despite the loss to Ole Miss, Alabama would have won every game and taken the SEC crown in Atlanta. Alabama’s schedule is tougher this year, but with the talent of the Front seven, it is hard not to pick the Tide in this situation. If Alabama doesn’t have the mental mistakes and turnovers it had against Ole Miss, look for Nick Saban’s squad to be back in the College Football Playoff.
Ohio State-
The winner of the 2014 College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes will most likely be back in 2015. It was hard not to pick Michigan State, because I think the Spartans have a great team this year. If Ohio State can get past that game, they shouldn’t have any issues. The quarterback play is unbelievable, and I think it is hard not to pick them again.
Notre Dame-
As much as I do not want to pick Notre Dame, I think the entire world (ESPN) has been waiting for the day that Notre Dame has 11 wins in the regular season. I had Georgia Tech in the ACC championship, but I’m second guessing that after Notre Dame completely embarrassed them. Another reason I picked Notre Dame is because the CFB playoff committee would much rather take a 1-loss Notre Dame, than another 1-loss SEC team (Like the BCS did in 2011). Everyone is tired of the SEC, and I could see the committee drooling at the fact that Notre Dame is in. They are more talented than they have been in recent years, and I think if they only have one loss, they will squeak in.
1 vs. 4- TCU vs. Notre Dame- TCU will take care of business, almost as bad as Alabama beat Notre Dame in the 2012 National Championship. TCU looks impressive, and is well rested after their schedule.
2 vs. 3- Alabama vs. Ohio State- A rematch of the 2014 semi-final game in New Orleans last year, this game will be everything everyone is anticipating. A battle of two great offenses and defenses, the Tide will finish strong and be able to close it out against Urban Meyer. However, this time, it is special teams that make the difference, and Adam Griffith and JK Scott look like kings.
1 vs. 2- TCU vs. Alabama- Another hard fought game for the Tide, their 15th to be exact, the Tide will finish on a strong note. 31-17.
